Web: Microsoft Backs Down From Yahoo Due To Google
HardWareZone | 21 July, 2008 10:50
Looks like Microsoft won't be buying over Yahoo after all - not even hostile-wise.
Google's offering of a deal to Yahoo made Microsoft unable to proceed with the acquisition, resulting in the Web returning to a trinity of the triple titans. In fact, it may very well be Google's intent to put Microsoft off from buying Yahoo, to avoid a direct confrontation with a company larger than itself. The fact the CEOs of Yahoo and Google are friends who respect each other is probably another thorn for Microsoft to accept.
Thus it will seem Microsoft will go ahead and push in the Web space, while competing with both Yahoo and Google, while Google and Yahoo maintain a friendly stance, with both being in direct rival of Microsoft. This brings about a very interesting scenario for the Web, especially when it's led by the triple giants.
