More Samus Aran!

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

We don't know where our sudden Samus addiction came from, but the picture below is simply....stunning.  No doubt the beautiful Jenni Källberg's helmet mayb e a tad too big from the original, but hey, she's got the armor right, and just look at that hair!

Crysis Nanosuit Deja-Vu

HardWareZone | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Crysis Nanosuit
In what seems a case of life imitates art, the University of Cambridge has developed a new type of carbon fibre made up of nanotubes that in some cases, exceeds the performance of Kevlar (that nearly-bullet-proof material). Does that mean Crysis won't be science-fiction first-person shooter anymore?  Guess we have to wait for the aliens in 2019 to find out...

ActiVision + Vivendi Games = ActiVision Blizzard

HardWareZone | 21 July, 2008 10:50

ActiVision Blizzard
If you haven't already heard, Vivendi Games, known for their Blizzard Entertainment division for popular games like Diablo, StarCraft, and WarCraft, has merged with ActiVision, known for their games like Quake and Doom3. The USD18billion merger results in a rising juggernaut against titan Electronic Arts (EA), further rousing the gaming industry.

The new company will be known as ActiVision Blizzard, taking on the name of the popular division instead of Vivendi Games. Blizzard will invest 2billion in the new company, while ActiVision will be putting in 1billion.  As expected, the parent company of Vivendi Games, which is Vivendi, will be the largest shareholder in the new group.

Crysis sucks processing power like a thirsty camel

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Lucky people Pc Games Hardware got their mitts on NVIDIA's latest triple-SLI configuration which includes three 8800 Ultras, a 1200W PSU and Crysis. Unfortunately they weren't able to play the game 'smoothly' as it only maxed out, at ultra settings at 37.9fps. If this isn't an indicator of how all our rigs suck, nothing else can drive home the point that Crysis is a resource hog. The latest hogzilla, anyone?

The rumors are rife

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

(RUMORED!)

Apparently, some IT people from the Morrisville State College found out that our very own beloved console, the Xbox 360 can potentially warp 2.4Ghz wireless signals (that's the band which all your wireless keyboards, mice, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi appliances use), rendering the data streams into a total mess. Seriously, you could be the reason why your Wi-Fi isn't as strong as it used to be, or have you experienced dropped Bluetooth connections everytime you wander near the white tower? Apparently, this also happens when the console is switched off, or rather, in standby mode, so please, do us a favor and see if your console is potential wireless signal deathtrap.

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Vroom!!!

Due to popular demand, here's part one of the Need For Speed: ProStreet tuning guide/FAQ. Feel free to leave questions in the comments below. AFAIK this is a 'general' kinda FAQ so these settings may be used with other cars as well.  Onwards to the settings after the jump!!

NFS: ProStreet Tuning FAQ! - Part 2: Speed

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Boom goes the radar trap! There's no other game which is as frustrating as ProStreet when it comes to high-speed driving along country roads that ain't perfect (think the dangerous Shuto Expressway track and you'll see how frustrating it is). Thankfully, the almost-perfect tuning settings are here and they completely eliminate the dangers when it comes to high-speed runs. Check out the screenshot here, taken from the Autobahnring-B Speed Challenge track with a shot of N20 at the start, nothing else:

NFS: ProStreet Tuning Guide: Part 3 - Drag

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Hey all, first off, this is the third and second-last installment to the tuning guide, with the Drift settings still being sorted out thanks to discrepancies when the patch came out. (Its harder to get consistent scores now :P) Anyways, a MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you, and lets start the festivities with a new drag tune!

With this tune, you can expect drag times of this manner; taken at the Portland International Raceway in Battle Machine!

1/4 mile drag times

1/2 mile drag times. I DNF thanks to a little slip-up that made me false start :p

NFS: ProStreet Tuning Guide Part 4 Rev 1: Drift!

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Ah, the magical art of going sideways and maintaining it for more than a second has always mesmerized this one, and thus, I present to you this first part in a  on drift settings in Need For Speed: ProStreet.  Contrary to popular belief, the drift physics in PS is eons better than Carbon or Most Wanted (even if it didn't have a drift mode, you could do the same on the vast expanses of grass!). Anyways, off the rants and into the action!

I used a S15 Silvia because its one of my personal favs and because its cheap!

Chris Taylor, the man behind the hit games Total Annihalation and more recently, Supreme Commander which I just loved apart from its frequent patches, is going to roll out a game called Demigod. Rather, his muse Gas Powered Games are. Billed as an action/RPG/RTS hybrid, it will play like DotA but with a twist - your bases are now made into the heroes directly under your control. These gargantuan walking hulks are the titular demigods and certain ones feature production buildings or factories on their bodies, using the produced units for defense or attacking positions, while other demigods work alone, housing attacking capability that rivals...another demigod. Watch out for this space = the title seems VERY intruiging, making it one of the more anticipated games for us this year....besides the long-awaited Spore.

3DMark Vantage

HardWareZone | 21 July, 2008 10:50

3DMark Vantage

No it's not a screen capture from StarCraft2, it's from 3DMark Vantage, the companion to PCMark Vantage, which is designed for Vista, and is DirectX 10 capable.

It's slated to come out soon to replace 3DMark2006, just like how PCMark Vantage is designed to replace PCMark2005. We thought we'd whet your appetites to get a glimpse of what the next 3DMark gamers' benchmark looks like. There are 2 more screens on Futuremark's site.

Asus Always Get Their Tops

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Not to be contented with what all the other graphic card manufacturers are offering, Asus has updated its TOP range with a whopping number of four graphical cores in a single dual-card package. Although you get four cores, the card will only sport 1GB of memory, but then again, this beast should run Crysis just fine. Expect the price to be a whopper though!
