Intel Buys Havok

HardWareZone | 21 July, 2008 10:50

It would seem the board wars are heating up as Intel bought Havok (an Irish company known for their physics engine). With NVIDIA announcing that they will begin to make GeForce7 chipsets for Intel boards, and AMD has their 690G chipset, the makers are beginning to battle for the on-board graphics arena.

Intel-Havok

This comes as no surprise as Vista demands a more powerful graphics processor than XP, as the Desktop is in 3D and uses the graphics processor instead of the main system processor. With AMD's plans to come up with their Fusion processor which merges both processor and graphic processor together, it might seem that the future of graphic cards is uncertain. Perhaps that's why Intel is purchasing Havok.

Maybe Intel will come up with future processors that incorporate physics processing?
