Guild Wars may not have the same intricate lush worlds and PvE gameplay that WoW has, but one sector that they have them beat is their PvP gameplay. Last Sunday, e-Club Malaysia held a mini 4-vs-4 PvP tourney to commemorate the upcoming Guild Wars: Nightfall expansion pack.
I arrived at the event late since I had to attend the BenQ-Siemens launch of their new lineup of mobiles as well as the launch of Taiwanese pop duo Sweety and their new album. When I arrived at MidValley, I was half-expecting that the event was already over. Thankfully this wasn't so, as the semi-finalists were still duking it out. Quite a number of GW players and clans were there, including Celestial Order, the largest(?) GW clan in Malaysia.
e-Club Malaysia was selling a special pre-release bonus pack where you could purchase access keys to the next beta Nightfall event. Included in the pack was exclusive virtual items and dance animations for the new classes in Nightfall. They were also selling the Collector's Edition of Guild Wars: Factions.
Sponsors D-Link, Streamyx, and Fujitsu set up a table to display their wares and services. Outside, there were two notebooks showcasing Proton Rally, a racing car rally mod of Half-Life featuring - you guessed it - Proton cars. I had a test drive with their Proton Waja and I actually found it quite responsive. Hmm...I didn't know it handled this well at high speeds. I wonder if they coded its engine mechanics accurately or not? :p
Eh, Proton cars can handle that well meh in real life???
MyAge Software also was showcasing Super Dancer Online, their latest casual MMOG. The game was initially set to keyboard mode instead but after one of the SDO staff saw how well I played, he brought out a prototype dance mat, which they say will be out sometime in October/November. I got to try it out and it was quite fun! However, the mat kept slipping around due to the carpet floor, so I suggest taping it down onto a hard surface/floor if you ever decide to get one. The staff said that it will be sold for about RM79 and that it should be out around October/November.
Prototype SDO dance mat! And I got to dance on it, w00t!
When I finished dancing on the mat, it turned out that the PvP Finals was already over. ^_^;; Oh well, at least I managed to grab pics of the winners. Congrats to Goda Vos Team 2 who won the mini PvP tourney! For more pics and info on the tourney, check out Mygozone

This photo wasn't that easy to take; there was this annoying kid who purposely kept running in front of the camera to spoil the picture. -_-;
