NFS: ProStreet Tuning FAQ! - Part 1: Grip

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Vroom!!!

Due to popular demand, here's part one of the Need For Speed: ProStreet tuning guide/FAQ. Feel free to leave questions in the comments below. AFAIK this is a 'general' kinda FAQ so these settings may be used with other cars as well.  Onwards to the settings after the jump!!

We'll first start with the suspension settings; these are suitable for most type of tracks except for REALLY tight and twisty ones such as Ebisu. Perfect for Texas Speedway and other high-speed tracks. For those tight and twisty ones, I use the Evo X with suspension settings dialled to neutral handling.

The reason why roll bar stiffness isn't as stiff as it should be is because the zonda suffers from snap oversteer in gear 2, especially when its clawing out of a corner. If you manage to kill that trait, lemme know!
Tongue out

Transmission-wise, the zonda pulls in every gear, and this is the best gearing for a variety of tracks (unless you LOVE retuning it every single time!!)  p.s. for gearing, use Quaife when buying Stage 4 parts. they whine like dog-tooth 'boxes, and seriously sound cool

It tops up at 98km/h in 1st!! How fast do you want it to be??

Engine-wise, the car is detuned, especially at the boost level to make power delivery more linear - no thanks to the nail-biting acceleration at the upper rev range.

To detune it even more, slide the cam timing to the left, towards 'retard'. Yeah.

Brakes on a supercar ain't good enough. Get your Zonda some carbon composite rotors and calipers! These will definitely stop your car without locking up even with every assists off on 'King' difficulty.

Here's a shot of what's its making

and here's the result using the same tuning on the A-54 Express Grip track, without even touching N20!!
