LaCie makes it BIG

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Its been a while since we heard from these guys, but LaCie has shown up with two terabyte external drives which can be connected via FireWire 400/800 and USB2.0 for that ultimate PC/Mac combination. Aptly dubbed the Big Disk Extreme+, it comes in a RAID 0 for that ultimate speed which enables you to store more videos, music, design files, pictures (and everything else) and the convenient shortcut button launches an application of your choice in just 1 push of the button! Seriously |337 since we ourselves have yet to get a Hitachi 1TB hard drive for ourselves.......[Engadget]

Don't have an iPhone? (Version 2.0)

HardWareZone | 21 July, 2008 10:50

No, it's not a typo, and we're not repeating ourselves. We're just highlighting another option if you don't have an iPhone but want one.  This is especially for us Asians since we have to wait till next year for it. Though at least by then it'll be 3G too!

If you don't want to build your own like the previous post offers - get a clone then!

That's right, the mighty power of China's piracy knows no bounds. Heck if they could pirate Disneyland (http://www.japanprobe.com/?p=1678), what's the iPhone?

China's version is called the miniOne and it runs popular mobile phone software that the Apple version doesn't, and works with nearly every worldwide cellular telephone carrier, not just AT&T, like how the iPhone does currently. This opens the pirated iPhone to the whole world, not just the U.S., and as a bonus, it's also half the price - as expected.  The clone iPhone uses a Linux-based OS. Ar matey!

Samsung's new Yepp got us drooling

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Definitly on a roll since they also launched a new F8 LCD TV which is 1080p capable, the Korean electronics giant Samsung plans to release this:

Definitely looking sleek, the YP-P2 as we know it can act as a Bluetooth headset which allows you to listen to 10000 MP3 files and recieve calls at the same time! No word on release dates over here though, but it is definitely stunning to behold and does remind us of a black iPhone with blue highlights.

The first Xbox 360 Elite arrives in Malaysia!

hoobs | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Our friends at Gamer's Hideout recently got their hands on possibly the first Asian Xbox 360 Elite in Malaysia. We had the chance to molest the Elite ourselves and we (or rather I) must say that we would gladly give up FatCatLim or zerotau in exchange for one. (So which one of you guys are willing to sacrifice yourself for the cause eh?)

If you've been living in a hole for the past year, get the full specs of the Elite here. The bottom line is black is the new white. Black is cool. No, black is sub zero cool. Black rocks!

If you're interested in getting one for yourself, Gamer's Hideout is expecting their stock of the Elite to arrive sometime in this two weeks. Price? They haven't got a lockdown on the price yet but expect it to be slightly more than SGD799 after conversion. It's a bit pricey we must say, but that's the price you have to pay if you want 120GB storage, HDMI connection and of course, to rock out in black!

More pictures of the contents of the Elite after the jump.

*Ugly dude with lovely Elite pix stolen from here. To see the full post, go here but you do have to register first.

The 40D replaces the aging 50D (natrually) while the 1Ds Mark III brings the DIGIC III to a 21.1 world dominated by the likes of Hasselblad and Vivitar and other similarly exotic-named manufacturers. Enjoy the juicy pics below (yeah, we know we have a gadget fetish, at least I do!)

Canon USA's press releases are here for the 40D and here for the 1Ds Mark III

Festo's Air Ray Looks Like A Metal Gear

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Charming. That's one of the words that can describe this Air Ray from Festo. A remote-controlled robot that floats through the means of helium indigestion, the Air Ray spookily reminds us of one of those Metal Gears in MGS. Scary? it does cross the uncanny valley for me. Hit the link to catch a video of it in action!

Of New iPods And Voodoo Machines

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

By golly! two new gadgets to drool about today! First off, like what hoobs mentioned yesterday, Apple has launched three new iPods that mostly have the same functions, only in different skins.

On the left, you have your lonely shuffle, followed by the new Video nano, 'classic' iPod and iPod Touch. In comparision to the iPod Touch, the iPhone sits placidly beside it. We still want the phone instead as the Touch only touts 16GB of flash-based memory and WiFi.

In other news, HP, in conjunction with Voodoo has launched its (or rather, their) astoundingly beatiful sclupture, the Blackbird 002. Check out the pics after the jump!

Wanna ride in my Ferrari.....limo?

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

If you've got too much cash to spend, and you've seen enough of the babes, booze toys, why not create your own one? This Ferrari 360 Modena limo is just that - too bad the days of the dotcom boom was over decades ago, we would have gotten one and trashed it!

Samsung's challenger to the LG Prada has always been around

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

We really didn't know this, but Samsung has made the SGH-P520 its Armani flagship phone, the rival to the LG Prada. Boasting a 3 Megapixel camera, 50MB of internal memory, 3G connectivity and a slim form factor that rivals some of its Ultra edition lines, we really have to see the Armani version before commenting

Razer Mice for the mobile warrior!!

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Perfect for the mobile gamer who is short on travelling space but relish the performance of gaming mice, Razer's Pro|Click Mobile range of mice are definitely cheeky, as you can see in the image above. Another bonus to cord-weary travellers - they are Bluetooth 2.0 compatible, hence no more tangles in your laptop bag!

Nikonians Unite!

zerotau | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Nikon launched their flagship D3 and prosumer D300 Digital SLR cameras just this morning and while the cameras themselves wont be arriving till the end of the year, we got to know that buyers have already placed thier deposits on the 13fps (in DX-format) shooting D3. Gotta love that 51-AF point system! The D300 will also be introduced in stores by the year's end, and will feature several improvements over the D200 which includes the now obligatory anti-dust systems as well as a live preview function. What's cool though, is the Active D-Lighting system which gives you pictures that have a higher dynamic range!!! We're also interested in knowing who'll be the first to remove the low-pass filter of either camera for IR photography *hehe*
