iZZi just launched their new wireless broadband service today, and to demonstrate how effective their connections were, the media were treated to a trip to The Eye On Malaysia wheel at Tasik Titiwangsa. Needless to say, the view at the wheel was incredibly scenic, which I managed to capture a few snapshots. Click the jump to view more!

Both iZZinet Sdn Bhd executives Lee Yew Kung and Dennis Chan were excited with officiating the launch of the new iZZinet wireless broadband service in Malaysia.

Members of the media waiting for their turn on the Eye On Malaysia wheel.

Each group was given a Toshiba notebook with an iZZinet wireless network card to test its effectiveness during bus trips and high places. Too bad they didn't let us keep the notebooks. :p

Spotted! Blogger Jeff Ooi of Screenshots was around too to take in the scenic views of Titiwangsa Lake.

The keeper of the gates keeping a close eye on the passengers and wheel.

Writer Jan from The Sun newspaper posing with an unknown yet dashing writer from HWM Malaysia *cough*

Kimberly and Adam of Catcha had their sunnies ready for the blinding morning light.

Today's weather was surprisingly clear of the haze.

A frontal view of The Eye on Malaysia wheel.

Last shot of the day: a cute little tortoise ambling about in the water, near the cafe by the lake.
Pretty fun event overall. It was my first time going up on the Malaysian eye and I really like the views. Thankfully the weather was in top condition for a spot of photography, which I dutifully took advantage of. I'm sure you'll agree some of the shots here are quite worth the event. :D

I just signed up the Izzi plan using desktop modem. I am living in Puchong and guess what? I could not get a steady signal at all. According to their coverage map, my area is well covered by Izzi. Was it a joke?

I just bought izzi last night. One good salesperson willing to come to my home and test the connection for me. If i satisfy with the speed, then buy. If not, he has no problem at all.
Guess what, I am really happy chosse izzi over bloody hell streamyx. I got around 90 kBps download, approx 800-900 kbps.
I am downloading 3DMark 2006 which the file size is more than 550 MB.
by the way, I am staying at level 15, thats why.

I have been using IZZI's connection for over a week now. The speeds are barely higher then dial up and reliability is none existent. The tech people always try to show potential customers a speedtest on their website but that test is only a sales gimmick. Actual speeds are no where near the speeds that the test will show. Make sure you ask the tech person to show you connection speed by downloading a file or loading a graphics intensive page. Consider yourself forewarned...

For all those thinking about using IZZI I'd strongly advise you think it over. I've been using IZZI net for a little over a week now. The speeds are terrible...barely higher then dial up. Don't believe the Speed Test that their tech people will try to show on the IZZI website. That thing shows you 100Kb\s throughput even at times when speeds are so bad that simple web pages won't load!! To find out how good izzi is really functioning at your place try downloading a file or loading a graphics intensive page. Their speed test is a complete sales gimmick. You have been warned...

OziBurst | 18/07/2007, 23:08
Hi,
Great pics. This iBurst is actually a great gizmo - used it when wuz in Australia, found its connection highly reliable, great speed and with amazing mobility, so no hesitation buying one on its availability. Great price too - beat all competition in the market, 3G or Celcom. Its only RM1,138 n u get the "4G" card free with zero interests for 12 months repayment if you pay by credit. Would cost more than RM2,500 with competition package. So far it has been great, accessing it in KL city no prob at all, whether on legs or in car. Bloody amazing mobility. My wife drove all the way along Jalan Sultan Ismail and by the time I reached Jalan Kuching, I retrieved and read all my emails all travelling at 60km speed. Wow, Malaysia boleh with iZZi iBurst!!!!
