Dell notebooks get a splash of color

A Dell product launch event? In Malaysia? Yeap, it's true. For the first time, Dell has decided to do something different with their new line of Inspiron and XPS notebooks, staging a product 'fashion show' at Cineleisure Damansara yesterday to highlight the bright and bold display colors that their new notebooks sport. More pics of the show after the jump!

Event co-sponsor Targus had some really fashionable-looking notebook bags for those who can't stand the standard black notebook bags.

This Inspiron 531s desktop is powered by AMD's dual core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a Radeon X1300 Pro. It may be all silver in color but it's still one damn nice looking chassis.

The Inspiron desktop also comes in Intel flavor, with the same Radeon X1300 Pro graphics and 2GB of RAM. This Intel desktop is pretty cool too, but I prefer the slimmer-looking AMD desktop. The display could be a lot bigger though.

The new XPS M1330 in the flash! A 13.3" notebook, it's the thinnest 13.3" notebook and is incredibly light at 1.8kg. You can customize the cover display in either Tuxedo Black, Pearl White, or Crimson Red.

Phat Fabes from Fly FM was in the house as the event emcee. Hmm...doesn't this picture make him look like some sort of messiah with a halo around his head?

After the opening addresses by General Manager Pang Yee Beng and Director of Product Marketing APAC Robert Vinokurov, they started the event with a fashion catwalk where models dressed in one particular color scheme came out one by one onto the stage. It was a rather awkward 5 minutes, as all the models initially came out without any products on the stage.

Finally! The real stars of the show! Each model carried a new Inspiron 1420 notebook corresponding with the color of their dress. Altogether there are 8 new funky colors to choose from, such as Ruby Red, Midnight Blue, and Jet Black. My personal favorite was Midnight Blue, also because the model did some B-Boy moves earlier. :D

Espresso Brown and Ruby Red models on the catwalk. Hmm...the Espresso Brown color don't look too bad either.

All-in-all, the first product launch event from Dell was a solid success. It looks like they're listening closely to the customers and media feedback on their products and launches. Hopefully we'll see more of such events and launches from Dell Malaysia soon.

By the way, Transformers The Movie was screened last night and I wasn't able to go due to work. T_T Oh well, here's a bonus picture of another car in front of Cineleisure Damansara that faced the wrath of Megatron.
