Computex 2007 (Day 2)

FatCatLim | 21 July, 2008 10:50

Proton moving out of the car business and into displays instead? Nah. Just a HD  TVs manufacturing company sharing the same name...though the logo design looks suspiciously similar to the older Malaysian Proton logo.

(And for anyone thinking that they're a new company ripping off Proton's name, they claim they were established in 1982)

Even though I absolutely loathed the weather at this year's Computex, the after-effect of the mist surrounding the Taipei 101 made it very picturesque.

Both Intel and AMD promoted heavily around Computex - inside and outside the exhibition halls.

Funtwist had this very cute iPiggy bank device that would recite the demomination of the coin money when you put it in. Wished I had one of this when I was younger - it would have made saving money a lot more interesting.

Some booths had Nintendo Wiis set up for people to try out and have fun. Avermedia used the Wii to demonstrate their A/V connectivity products.

Jumping on the Transformers bandwagon, Intel goes out to show that their new Quad Core processor is more than meets the eye.

ZOMG a 2600XT card for AGP slot! This wasn't the only AGP 2600XT card I saw in Computex - Besides Palit/XpertVision, HIS Digital appears to be offering an AGP 2600XT card as well. Looks like AGP board users don't have to worry about being left out of the DirectX 10 loop for a while...

Sapphire showed us their 2600XT Dual GPU card...which is basically a 2600XT CrossFire in one card (note the two GPUs). The card is HUUUUUUGE (it's even bigger than a 2900XT), but you get 4 DVI ports(!) and lots of raw firepower in this baby.

Corsair didn't just show off their new DDR3 RAM sticks - they proved that it could work fine and dandy with Intel's new unreleased X38 board, which exclusively only uses DDR3 RAM slots.

Last picture of the day, I give you a picture of one of ThermalTake's very cool-looking casing. Hmm...I didn't realize the 'No Picture Taking' sign there until now...

Check back later in the day for the final set of photos for Computex 2007!
