Onigirisan | 22 January, 2009 12:43

PS3 users who logged into the PlayStation Network last night would have been prompt to update their PS3 system software to version 2.60. With this software update comes an optional 100MB+ download that will install the new Photo Gallery application to your Photo tab.

Also added to this release is the ability to browse the PlayStation Store without the need of a PSN account. Of course, if you wish to download content, then you'll have to sign up for an account to get started. Video files encoded using Divx 3.11 will now be playable on your PS3 console. Have fun!

Gaming: (Free) Game For the Soul

Onigirisan | 20 January, 2009 09:32

Here's a small little indie game for you to kill time with. Just don't be fooled by Eversion's cute characters and colorful graphics, for nothing is as it seems in this platformer game.

Controls are relatively simple: Left and Right arrow to walk, Z to Jump, X to Everse, and ESC to Return to Main Screen. Eversion also comes with the following guideline: NOT INDICATED FOR CHILDREN OR THOSE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION.

To say anything more would be to spoil the fun. Enjoy!

Randoms; Save The Font, Save The World!

zerotau | 13 January, 2009 09:09

Dutch outfit SPRANQ creative communications Utrecht has created a new font which purpotedly saves you ink and consequently, the world. Dubbed Ecofont, the font style which looks like Dutch holey cheese (as seen above) uses approximately 20% less ink, just by introducing holes into the facetype! After using it for a couple of days, we'll have to say that it takes time getting used to, and fonts below 10pts might look as though they're been nibbled by a rat. A must-try if you want more ways to save costs, especially during in these tough times, you can download Ecofont right here.

With the release of the GTX 295 it was only a matter of time before NVIDIA went and overclocked their most powerful single GPU graphic card the GTX 280 and this is exactly what they have done with the release of the GTX 285. We managed to get our hands on one from one of the big boys and have proceeded to do a hands-on right here. Check out the 3DMark Vantage score below but for a full analysis and report check it out in our latest issue of HWM.

The official Burnout Paradise motherboard?

FatCatLim | 08 January, 2009 15:11

Burnout Paradise is easily one of the best racing games of 2008, and we're looking forward to its PC incarnation next month. Taiwanese motherboard company Elitegroup Computer Systems appears to be equally excited too, which may explain the rather obvious "homage" of the game on the box cover of one of their latest motherboards. The similarity is quite uncanny, don't you think?

Golfing; Titanium Clubs Create Deafness?

zerotau | 06 January, 2009 17:06

BBC News has reported that high-tech golf clubs made from titanium will be a health hazard to golfers. Thanks to the boom made when the club head touches the ball, golfers are in risk of becoming deaf if they regularly play with the same clubs. According to a case which was outlined in the British Medical Journal, a 55-year-old golfer developed a case of tinnitus and loss of hearing in the right ear after using one of such clubs, three times a week over a course of 18 months. Testing several models, the found out that the King Cobra LD club outputs the most sound, at 130 decibles, making that short moment a truly damaging one to your ears. The solution? Wooden clubs!
