Computer Problems Annoying You?

LordM | 11 August, 2006 11:33

You turn on and log-in to your computer. You turn on your favorite tunes while chatting with your friends using your IM service. Suddenly, the computer restarts and goes back to the log-in screen. Once again, you log-in only to find out that your computer has found a "serious error." You play an online game and after several minutes, the computer freezes, forcing you to reset the computer.

The crashes and the freezes continue, and you spend hours trying to figure out what the problem is. At this point, you just want to bash your computer as it was working perfectly the night before.

Sooner or later, this error message pops out of nowhere...

Does this screen look familiar to you?

People have coined this error screen as the Blue Screen Of Death or in shorter tems, BSOD. This usually happens when there is a software or hardware malfunction causing Windows to hang. Some Windows XP users may not be aware of this screen as the computer just restarts, but after changing some settings, you too can see this dreaded screen.

Before you attempt to bring your computer to the nearest IT hub and spend hundreds for a "check-up" fee, why don't you try to look for the problem using the Internet first?

There are a couple of websites that I used to visit whenever this blue screen appeared on my computer. However, there is one particular site that I visit as it solved most of my pc woes.

It's called Annoyances.org - a website that aims to help both newbies and professionals alike with their tech problems. They have various articles that you can browse through to help you pinpoint your problems, as well as a discussion forum for all versions of Windows. One nifty feature though is their search engine: After taking note of the error, users can simply type the error, and voila, all the links for that problem will be displayed.

This may hopefully work for you guys, but if all else fails, and you're starting to pull your hairs from your scalp, then better bring your computer to your friendly "IT" guys.
