HP Photosmart And Deskjet Printer Launch: Touch, Print And Go!

littlelion | 13 October, 2009 10:26

Fresh from their regional conference last month, the Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) of HP Philippines focused its energy once again on rolling out an array of printing solutions that is more consumer-centric. Going parallel with the popularity of touch-sensitive desktop and mobile devices in today’s market, HP unraveled the industry’s first complete consumer lineup of touch-enabled HP Photosmart printers.

Posing for the camera are HP Philippines’ IPG executives, Country General Manager Ms. Jenny Sotto-Siquioco and Market Development Manager Ms. Gizelle Villacorta, together with new models of HP Photosmart printers.

Aesthetically, the new Photosmart printers are all clad in a piano-black exterior, with the surface showing off patterns that are similarly found on HP Imprint notebooks. According to Ms. Gizelle Villacorta, HP IPG’s Market Development Manager for the Consumer Category, HP will be introducing to the local market more new printers that are designed in similar fashion as a part of their intensified marketing strategy.

Demonstrated here is a photo captured by a mobile phone being printed by the HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One, the highest end model of the pack.

Earlier this year, the IPG presented some of their Wi-Fi- and Bluetooth-enabled printers but that was just the appetizer. The recent launch served as the main course in which new models with the same wireless features were put in the spotlight. Wireless connectivity allows users to print photos straight from their handheld device to the printer without the need of a host computer.

Equipped with the Magic Frame, HP achieved a more seamless design on the Photosmart Premium All-in-One. In this shot, what is left on the control panel is the power button.

One of the key features of the new Photosmart printers is TouchSmart technology, which reminded us of HP’s family of touch-enabled desktop PCs. A more specific innovation called the Magic Frame is consistent across Touchsmart-enabled Photosmart All-in-One (AiO) printers. With the touch of a finger, the screen maximizes the size of the touch area by including contextual buttons that light up only when relevant to the user.

The touch-enabled HP Photosmart AiO portfolio is comprised of four new, exciting models:

The HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One features the convenience and simplicity of a TouchSmart control panel and complete wireless connectivity, making it the ultimate AiO for on-the-go, connected families. This AiO reduces energy use by more than 25 percent over the previous model and features paper-saving options such as automatic two-sided printing. PhP 10,490

Featuring a 2.36-inch touchscreen, the HP Photosmart Plus All-in-One allows consumers to wirelessly print photos, Web content and everyday documents with the touch of a finger. Consumers can use the TouchSmart control panel to rotate and crop photos, adjust brightness, or apply color effects before printing – no PC necessary. PhP 7,990

The HP Photosmart C4780 All-in-One offers the easiest wireless set-up – simply touch one button for the freedom to print from virtually anywhere in the home. Equipped with a 1.45-inch color display, users can print lab-quality photos, everyday documents, copies and photo reprints with this AiO without the intervention of a host PC. PhP 6,490

Another model that has a 1.45-inch color display, the HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One is a champion of simplicity and convenience. Built for efficiency, it also includes several features for “goof proof” printing such as the HP Photo Print Gadget – which allows users to simply drag and drop photos to a desktop icon from virtually anywhere on a PC – saving time and reducing errors. PhP 4,990

Aside from the new Photosmart AiO printers, HP also introduced during the event innovative additions to the Deskjet portfolio. These printers are more targeted at budget-conscious consumers.

The HP Deskjet D5560 printer features one-touch wireless setup and built-in Wi-Fi, making it an ideal choice for those who want the freedom and flexibility to print laser-quality text and vivid color images from virtually anywhere in the home or office. PhP 4,490

Built for simplicity and quick speeds, the HP Deskjet F4480 AiO is an ideal print, copy and scan solution for users who prefer hard copy prints of articles, emails, recipes and more. PhP 3,990

Made from 50 percent recycled materials, the HP Deskjet D2660 printer is a compact, easy-to-use device that consistently delivers reliable prints of everyday projects and photos for the eco- and cost-conscious student or family. PhP 2,290

In light of Gartner’s forecast of the continuing popularity of capacitive touchscreen and touch-button controllers on computers, consumer electronics and handhelds, HP is certainly riding high on the success of these devices and this is clearly seen with the launch of their latest Photosmart printers. With that said, do expect that more printers from this category will be coming your way in the months to come. But at the moment, like you, we are looking forward to meeting any of these incarnations personally.

I am comparing the C4680 and D5560. Between the two, the C4680 is more value for money than the D5560. Just add 500 pesos and you will get an touch Aio.

It's nice to see that HP has decided to go black with their printers. Any of these would go well with my HP Mini-note indeed.

They really look so good!

Comment Icon who needs them?

Who among us really need a touch-enabled printer? At the end of the day, people will print the traditional way.

In my opinion, the introduction of Wi-Fi is the most revolutionary thing that ever happened to printers.
