At present, enterprises are resolved on dissecting their problems with document management into four components, namely hardware, software, infrastructure, and system integrators. This kind of understanding led enterprises to pick different vendors and assign each of them to handle the components separately. This approach is effective in some way, but not without flaws. For instance, if there is a compatibility issue between hardware and software, the enterprise must contact both the hardware vendor and software vendor, who, as independent entities, are responsible only with their own product or solution. Normally, a joint effort between two vendors is fee-based and time-consuming. Of course, the time spent in troubleshooting the problem is equivalent to downtime which slows down workflows in general.

New Hardware Offerings
In line with the MPS program, HP rolled out an array of printing and scanning solutions for the enterprise market. Additionally, marking the 25th anniversary of the LaserJet, HP updated the brand with two new sub-brands, namely Professional and Enterprise. The following belongs to the LaserJet Enterprise stable.

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4020 printer series is ideal for IT-managed small and medium (SMB) and enterprise small workgroups that need a network-ready laser printer for efficient color printing. Easy paper handling and simplified controls allow end-users to operate with ease and efficiency. The four-line color control panel with auto-navigational help allows casual users to instinctively operate independently from IT, thereby boosting office productivity throughout the office. In addition, the improved HP Universal Print Driver makes printing with color easy and efficient.
HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4520 Printer Series
The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4520 printer series increases usability with advanced media sensing and a four-line color control panel with auto-navigational help, while increasing office productivity and efficiency with up to 35 percent faster color printing than its predecessor. With integrated enterprise level security, low operational costs, and color access controls, the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4520 printer series is the ideal printing solution for dynamic business printing needs.

The HP Scanjet Enterprise 7000n document capture workstation is an easy to use, shared, A4 sheet-feed document capturing solution that features an intuitive 8.4-inch color touchscreen display and full QWERTY keyboard, allowing users to preview, modify and finalize documents with a thumbnail view directly on the device. Featuring HP Precision Feed Technology, it is also supported by HP Web Jetadmin and can be easily integrated in existing document management environments.
Along with Wi-Fi certification and IEEE 802.11b/g wireless capability, the HP Jetdirect ew2500 wireless print server supports Fast Ethernet wired networking for versatile printer sharing. Simple to set up and configure to a wireless or wired networked environment, the HP Jetdirect ew2500 Wireless Print Server can be remotely managed with solutions such as HP Web Jetadmin and HP Easy Printer Care.

HP enables enterprises to take full advantage of the latest imaging devices which were mentioned above with these new software solutions that provide advanced security features, management and extensibility platform capabilities.
HP Open Extensibility Platform
HP Open Extensibility Platform (OXP), along with solution developer kits (SDKs), dramatically simplifies the development and deployment of custom imaging and print solutions across HP’s fleet of multifunction products. OXP adds new management interfaces (OXP-Management) such that IT managers, system integrators and software solution providers can use Web services to interact with HP Web Jetadmin to retrieve device information and status alerts.
HP Web Jetadmin 10.2
HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 helps administrators optimize device utilization, control color costs, set default PIN authentication, secure devices and streamline supplies management for HP and non-HP network peripherals. New features of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 include enhanced remote management capabilities, improved device discovery and configuration and advanced supplies management that reduces maintenance time and overall device deployment costs. In addition, users can remotely schedule sleep and wake-up modes to conserve power and reduce energy consumption.
HP Universal Print Driver 5.0
HP Universal Print Driver 5.0 includes HP EasyColor, which optimizes color printing and improves print performance for image-intensive documents. In addition, users can set printing devices to automatic two-sided printing to reduce paper waste. Features in HP Web Jetadmin and Universal Print Driver software can set an organization’s printers to duplex in a few simple keystrokes, saving up to 25 percent in paper costs.
HP And Canon Partnership
One segment of the conference that drew the participants’ attention was about the collaboration between HP and Canon. Based on the agreement, HP will expand its product portfolio with select Canon multi-function devices (MFDs) for high-volume customers in the enterprise market, while Canon will provide servicing and support for the MFDs. An additional limitation, this is only available for HP MPS customers in North America, Western and Eastern Europe, and for their affiliates operating outside these geographies on a case by case basis, including Asia Pacific and Japan.

HP's portfolio of enterprise customers is comprised of those entities belonging to the public sector, manufacturing, distribution, services industry, and healthcare.
All-in-one is all the rage these days and HP, through its IPG and the newly-established MES business unit, is in parallel with the trend. At the enterprise level, the company is zealously positioning itself as a one-stop shop with an all-in-one solution up its sleeve. The MPS program is not yet available in the Philippines. Nonetheless, the local arm of HP IPG is offering the Smart Print Services which presents a consolidated solution in the same way.
