JVC Philippines had thrown a “wedding” in Shangri-La Makati last week and we were among the lucky ones who witnessed the whole affair. However, the said “wedding” was totally different from the customary nuptial ceremony that we know. There was no priest, entourage, groom nor bride involved. Yet, all of us who attended were living witnesses to the marriage of sight and sound, celebrated through the introduction of JVC’s Xiview LT-42WX70 LCD monitor and Sophisti NX-D Series DVD compact component systems.
The guests, comprised of IT journalists and professional photographers, are getting ready for the start of the “wedding” program.
Gracing the event was the presence of "principal sponsors" from JVC Philippines, namely:
President and CEO Mr. Hirokazu Tamura,
General Manager for Sales and Marketing Mr. Paul Albert Reyes,
and Director Ms. Kazue Salud.
The Sight: JVC Xiview LT-42WX70 42-inch Full HD LCD Monitor
Do not let its huge size fool you. Although its display panel size, a whopping 42-inch diagonally, can easily make you think that the Xiview LT-42WX70 belongs to the HDTV category, JVC is clear on positioning it as an LCD monitor. If that’s the case, then it is considerably one of the largest LCD monitors available in the consumer market segment at the moment. Additionally, with a mere thickness of 42.5mm, it meets the criteria of being one of the slimmest LCD monitors for such a vast size.
One of the key catalysts that brought about the creation of the Xiview LT-42WX70 is the drastic increase of DSLR users through the years. Today, there are more than 10 million DSLR users worldwide.
One of the highlight features of the LT-42WX70 is its wider color gamut, a coverage rate of 96% for Adobe RGB and 100% for sRGB, which surpasses the capability of a typical HDTV. With that said, JVC is targeting this LCD monitor at those who have a discriminating standard when the area under discussion is color quality. While JVC is looking at photographers as the key beneficiaries of the LT-42WX70, we are also seeing architects, graphic artists, fashion designers, and video editors as other potential patrons of this LCD monitor. As a proof of its merit as a professional equipment for these fields, the LT-42WX70 has garnered an official citation at the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards 2009.
Another highlight feature of the LT-42WX70 is the New DynaPix HD Picture Engine which incorporates technologies such as Real Bit Driver and i-Motion NR. Creating 12-bit signals from 8-bit signals of DVD or DTV content, Real Bit Driver facilitates the reduction of gradation noise to produce a smoother picture quality. On the other hand, i-Motion NR effectively detects noise without motion blur.
In line with their responsibility for the environment, JVC has significantly reduced the amount of plastic material and packaging used on the LT-42WX70, hence, carbon dioxide emission is trimmed down as well. All in all, the Xiview LT-42WX70 LCD monitor should set you back about PhP 156,998.00.
The Sound: Sophisti NX-D Series DVD Compact Component Systems
A part of JVC’s Sophisti Advanced Living Entertainment System, the NX-D Series is comprised of three models: the NX-D3, NX-D5, and NX-D7. The most prominent feature of the series is its slanted design, whose purpose is not only to enhance its aesthetic aspect, but moreover, its audio performance. Despite the slanted design, the drivers of the main speakers are vertically aligned to produce sound all at the same time.
Designed to complement HDTVs, the Sophisti NX-D Series is a fine example of unique design that delivers supreme sound quality. The highest end model, the NX-D7, has an SRP of PhP 28,990.
While the vision of a component system can be easily associated with analog connectivity, two models of the NX-D Series (NX-D5 and NX-D7) incorporate HDMI output with 1080p up-conversion capability. The highest end offering, the NX-D7 has Bluetooth as well as a USB port.
The NX-D5. SRP: PhP 23,990
Taking into account that listening is a subjective experience, all models of the NX-D Series come with “My Sound” Adjustment. A JVC-exclusive technology, “My Sound” provides you with five test tones (125Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 4kHz, 10kHz) then automatically adjusts each frequency level to make the music sound best for your ears.
The NX-D3. SRP: PhP 19,990
Walking The Aisle: More Of JVC’s HDTVs
Roaming around the place of the occasion, we had also seen other tasteful offerings from JVC which included their current array of full HD LCD TVs. The prime proposition of these HDTVs is the proprietary JVC Sound Meister technology, in which a new IC is integrated to achieve a more enhanced sound reproduction.
The JVC HDTVs all in one row.
Furthermore, these models also offer three one-touch listening modes ranging from Pure (designed for classical and jazz music) to Dynamic (designed for action movies and soap operas). JVC’s HDTVs are divided into three lineups: Luxury, Beauty, and Supremacy.

JVC LT-22EX19 SRP: PhP 22,998.00

Needless to say, what goes after the wedding is the honeymoon. But since it was not a traditional marriage ritual, you should not expect something carnal. Nevertheless, we’re looking forward to spending some intimate time with either the Xiview LT-42WX70 LCD monitor or any of the Sophisti NX-D Series component systems – in private.
