While most of the events, particularly printer launches in the past, of HP Philippines Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) were often held in high-profile venues in the metropolis, our recent rendezvous with HP Scitex and Designjet printers was a totally different experience.
Take note, what we are talking about here are not those ordinary consumer types, but printing machines that can be as large as a bulldozer. Hence, at the recent three-day open house tour held from May 22-24, HP IPG brought us to the locations where the actual business of large-format printing is taking place.
Prior to the actual tour, key executives from HP IPG, composed of Mr. Charles Wong, Ms. Jenny Siquioco and Mr. Andrew McDuffie, made welcoming remarks and presentations during the lunch at TGI Friday’s. Noteworthy, the said presentation explicated the extensiveness of the ever-growing digital signage business and how HP IPG positively responds to this matter.
Departing from the briefing, our first stop was at the printing house of Arkigrafix Corporation, a local digital printing company, which is found along Quezon Avenue.
As what we have told you at the introduction, the event involved gargantuan printing machines. Shown in the photo is the HP Scitex FB6100 which is designed for large-format indoor and outdoor print advertising, surrounded with a bunch of overwhelmed press people.
One of the highlight features of the HP Scitex FB6100 is its capability to print directly on rigid, thick, heavy, or flexible media that includes glass, wood, metal and corrugated plastic.
To demonstrate its amazing versatility, HP IPG showed to us how the FB6100 could print on a wooden door.
The wooden door fed to the HP Scitex FB6100.

The result: a striking output achieved with the help of the new HP White Ink System which delivers stunning color fidelity at fast print speeds, and is impeccably designed for industrial environments.
Another large-format printer offering which HP IPG introduced to us is the HP Designjet H35000. As the company’s recognition of the popularity of billboards in the Philippines, this machine can print on rigid and flexible media making use of high-quality UV-curable inks.
Designed for businesses that are just entering the competitive world of print advertising, this large-format printer is easy to use and backed with the reliable customer support from HP.
Attesting to the versatility and reliability of HP’s large-format printers was Arkigrafix President Ms. Michelle Petines (farthest right in the photo). According to her, “Customers are very happy with the outdoor image durability we deliver with the HP Designjet H35500 and the HP Scitex FB6100 printers, without even having to laminate. Some of our first prints from a year and a half ago are still on display.” Seen in the background is a concept coffee shop in which the artworks and designs on furnishings were printed out using HP large-format printers.
Walking around the concept coffee shop, we saw more possible applications which can be done with the help of HP large-format printers.
From the printing house of Arkigrafix, we headed to the second leg of our tour at 11 FTC Enterprises, Inc. in Novaliches. Established in 1996, 11 FTC Enterprises, Inc. is one of the Philippines’ first one-stop concept shops in the POS (point-of-sale) materials manufacturing industry. Featured in the photo is the company’s gallery of various advertising materials.
Like Arkigrafix, 11 FTC Enterprises, Inc. also owns a unit of the HP Scitex FB1600. Seen here is a billboard printed out by the FB1600.
A closer look at the complex print head system of the HP Scitex FB1600.
Next, we spotted the HP Designjet L65500 which offers rich, saturated, and high-resolution prints over a wide range of media, by utilizing water-based HP Latex Inks and HP recyclable media.
Worth mentioning, the L65500 makes use of these eco-friendly HP consumables, this machine helps reduce the impact of large-format printing on the environment.
Commenting on the capabilities of HP large-format printers, 11 FTC Enterprises, Inc. General Manager Mr. John Madarang (center) said, “The print quality of HP printers is a lot better compared to those made in China and Korea. We are very much convinced that our HP printers can help us grow our business even more.”
To satisfy our interest, Mr. Madarang guided us to a booth that showcases outputs created by their HP large-format printers. Take note of the diverse surfaces that were used to achieve these extraordinary works of art.
In addition, HP is promoting two of its other large-format printers as good offerings for businesses in the field of graphics and design.
Designed for high-speed production environments, the HP Scitex XP2300 combines unprecedented ink coverage and time-saving productivity features, enabling businesses to deliver higher output volumes with industry-leading billboard speeds. It also offers reduced ink expenses with efficient billboard ink, and enhances business efficiency and workflow with automated software that put print jobs on queue without operator intervention.
Another profitable investment is the HP Scitex XL1500, a third-generation, large-format digital printing system excellent for printing over an extensive range of wide-format applications. With effortless and high speed printing capabilities, businesses can enjoy a faster return on investment (ROI).
