LG KS360 Launch: Text To The Max!

littlelion | 24 April, 2009 10:31

In spite of the unpredictable weather conditions, nothing had prevented us, not even the strong downpour that we encountered last Tuesday, from being present at the Philippine launch of the latest LG KS360 mobile phone which was held at Edsa Shangri-La Manila in Mandaluyong City.

Riding on the marketing battle cry “Text To The Max”, we clearly see that LG Electronics is projecting the KS360 towards a huge demographic in the country. The Korean chaebol is aware that the Philippines remains in the lead as the texting capital of the world with more or less 66 million subscribers on record. A large fraction of this bulk is the youth which is the specific target market of the KS360.

Looking closer at the outline of the LG KS360, we can see here that this slider mobile phone is mainly composed of rounded elements, such as curved edges and circular buttons, to harmonize with the youth’s bubbly and dynamic personality. Noteworthy, while most handsets with QWERTY keypads are often oriented for business purposes, the KS360 dares to deviate from the convention, as it is intended for social activities such as text messaging and mobile chatting.

The mobile chatting feature in the LG KS360 is supported by eBuddy, a pre-installed application which allows you to connect with a host of instant messaging clients which includes MSN, Yahoo and Facebook. However, taking into account that the KS360 has no Wi-Fi interface, mobile chatting can only be enjoyed through GPRS or EDGE.

Communication between a KS360 user and a desktop or laptop user is possible as well. In this case, the latter should log on at www.ebuddy.com.

Here's a screenshot of eBuddy's website.

Other features of the LG KS360 include a 2.4-inch LCD screen…

… a 2-megapixel camera…

… as well as a microSD slot and a USB port. The latter interface serves as the phone's earphone port as well.

Recognizing the young generation’s leaning to individuality and distinct fashion sense, the LG KS360 comes available in different, beautiful colors:

The romantic red.

The youthful green.

The feminine pink.

The confident blue.

 The elegant black and silver.

The launch was graced by the presence of big guns from LG Electronics, headed by LGE Asia VP and Head of Mobile Communications Marketing Mr. Bo-Hwan Choi (third person from right).

We caught a glimpse of these appealing mobile phone models that LG Electronics introduced previously. Some of which were familiar to us such as the Secret, the Cookie and the Renoir.

Here’s another batch of glamorous LG handsets on display.

And here’s a closer look at some of the lovely models.

Thankfully, our friends from LG Electronics Philippines promised us that they will be sending us a sample unit of the KS360. Stay tuned for our comprehensive review here on Hardware Zone and in the coming issues of HWM Philippines!
