littlelion | 25 March, 2009 06:40

With the popularity of flash-based camcorders rising in the local consumer electronics scene, JVC Philippines recently launched their 2009 lineup of Everio camcorders which includes the HD Everio series, Everio G series (standard definition), and Everio S series.

Held at Anson’s Emporium in Makati City, JVC presented to the local media the 2009 Everio series that combines portability and style, not to mention the slick technology packed into the camcorders. And with summer just around the corner, it may be a good time to check out an Everio for your video recording needs.

JVC Philippines President Hirokazu Tamura explained to the local media the innovations of the 2009 Everio series, including a small and slim form factor, HDD and SD memory card recording, faster sharing and video upload options to iTunes and YouTube.

Marketing Assistant & Product Specialist Ariel Calilan also expounded on the virtues of JVC’s new HD Gigabrid Premium video engine used in both HD and standard definition Everios.

According to JVC General Manager Kazue Salud, JVC avoids making complex devices. Instead, JVC’s approach lies in simplicity and fun entertainment. Ease of use means shooting comfort. With the 2009 Everios, an angled grip and dual-use strap help in giving consumers comfort during long recording sessions.

HD Everio

The JVC HD Everio series offers HD video recording at 1920 x 1080p resolution. It consists of three HD Everio models: the GZ-HM200 which offers dual SD memory recording via its SD dual card slots; the GZ-HD300 which offers a 60GB HDD and SD memory recording; and the GZ-HD320 which offers a 120GB HDD and SD memory recording.

HD Everios feature the new AVCHD UXP mode with an unprecedented bit rate of up to 24Mbps to deliver more detailed images with less noise. All HD Everios feature a new Konica Minolta HD Lens which delivers up to 20x optical zoom which is among the highest in HD camcorders. Also, the HD Gigabrid Premium Engine reduces power consumption by approximately 30% and enables approximately 2.5-times faster creation of DVD (standard definition) and AVCHD DVDs. HD Everio series camcorders’ suggested retail price starts at PhP 42,990.00.

Everio G Series

The JVC Everio G series of hard disk camcorders comprise of three models – the GZ-MG630 (60GB HDD), the GZ-MG670 (80GB HDD), and the GZ-MG680 (120GB HDD).

The GZ-MG670 and GZ-MG680 offer HD upconversion that converts a standard definition recording to a full HD output. Both camcorders have an HDMI mini terminal as well. For optics, the Everio G series makes use of a Konica Minolta Lens with 35x optical zoom. Suggested retail price for the base model of Everio G series starts at PhP 30,990.00.

Everio S Series

The Everio S series is comprised of dual storage memory models. The GZ-MS120 feature dual SD/SDHC card slot, while the GZ-MS130 feature a single SD/SDHC card slot and 16GB of internal memory. Because JVC opted to use economical SD memory cards, budget-conscious camcorder buyers would surely flock to the Everio S Series.

Both camcorders offer continuous recording in that once the first storage media maxes out its capacity, recording automatically switches to the other media. There is no need to stop recording and load a new memory card, a nifty feature that will surely be appreciated by consumers. An Everio S camcorder’s price starts at PhP 22,990.00.

JVC Philippines has also introduced their latest promo. Depending on the Everio model that you had purchased, you can get freebies such as camcorder bags, SD memory cards, and mini HDMI cables. So if you’re in the market for a new HD camcorder, go grab a JVC Everio!

In fairness, these camcorders are a lot good-looking than those from Sanyo.

Yep. A couple of years ago, these so-called HD camcorders cost around P100k. I feel sorry for those who bit the hype bait.

I wish we had these types of camcorders when we were in College. In our Film class, we were using a JVC mini-casette video recorder.

Another problem with cassette recording is that we had to convert the output to digital form. With today's camcorder, it's a lot more convenient and straightforward.

Stan, that's a good decision. By the way, what model did you buy?
