The Science of Roses

DidipusRex | 14 November, 2006 15:42

HWM gets a behind-the-scenes look at the most advanced greenhouse in the country.

Need to buy your girlfriend an anniversary gift? Geek that you are, an iPod might seem a logical choice - it's stylish, useful, popular and expensive enough to convince your girlfriend that you care deeply for her (at least your pockets do) - however, the white wonder from Apple still falls short of being a romantic present. Excepting of course a diamond ring or a vacation to the Maldives, flowers still take the prize as the most romantic gift you can give to your significant other. A single rose, bright red and fragrant, contains that special kilig factor that keeps the flames of love smoldering - that fact you know. What you don't know is that, these days, technology can play an important part in bringing that rose from the ground to your girlfriend's doorstep.

And I Feel Fine

DidipusRex | 14 November, 2006 11:41

And I Feel Fine
The Best of the IRS Years 1982-1987
R.E.M.

Many years before R.E.M. became an arena-filling superband and Michael Stipe went bald and cuckoo, it was THE college band. Formed in 1980 by Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry, R.E.M. made intellectual, witty songs which were relevant to the times and pleasing to the soul. Stipe's voice mumbled through lyrics yet resonated enough for their first album MURMUR to become the 1983 Album of the Year in the Rolling Stone Critics Poll. The world had taken notice of a relatively obscure band from Athens, Georgia and has never been the same since.

Aww, How Cute!!! Fuzzy, Small... Thingies!!

LordM | 12 November, 2006 14:23

There are some times when we just say that a particular thing is cute. From pandas to babies: how each and every single person defines cute is dependent on one's personal idea of "cuteness."

This new product from fredflare called plush hi-tech keychains is one of those items that may be cute for some, but perhaps not to others.

More Exercise Kiddies!

LordM | 10 November, 2006 09:50

Yes, exercise is really needed for us not to end up like couch potatoes. In fact, doctors are recommending us to exercise at least 3 times a week to keep cardiovascular sickness at bay.

However, with the advent of videogames, most of us would probably prefer to sit down and play for hours without any care in the world. But how about children? How about those who are just 8 or 9 but weighs like an adult? (It's true, I saw children like that in Oprah) I think it's about time parents step up and buy this machine.

I Need My Robot Fix! (C'mon Now, I Know You Do Too)

LordM | 09 November, 2006 11:13

Games like Front Mission or Gundam really makes me excited. In fact, when I play these games I feel like I am hypnotized... Honestly speaking, I think that the future is not going to be complete with big robots with tons of weapons. (Of course, I don't want the wars that come along with it)

Anyway, in order for you to get that quick "robot" fix, why don't you buy this product for your household? It's called Robotan from Airyusha...

Your Personal Helicopter

Admir | 07 November, 2006 13:54

If flying is your thing, this might be a good start to appease that inner desire of yours: meet the Micro R/C Helicopter from Think Geek. It won't take out hours of your time just to assemble it together, nor will it crash right after it takes off the ground. It's small and light enough that it can use a person's palm as its landing pad. However, just like other RCs, the remote controller requires 8 AA batteries! Well, no matter, today's rechargeable NiMHs can go up to almost 3000mAh in capacity, and they're a whole lot more affordable too.

TIP: Go play Battlefield 2 first and experience some virtual copter flight training.

Interested? More info here.

No More Glow In The Dark Stars

LordM | 06 November, 2006 13:38

Ah, Yes. The beautiful and breathtaking constellations in the sky. I personally take some time out from all my worldly obligations to immerse myself in Astronomy. And while my sister had 'constellations' in her room (using glow in the dark stars), I really want 'realistic' stars to fill up my room. Luckily for us, there's such a thing as a Home Planetarium.

I Need My Silence Please!

LordM | 06 November, 2006 13:09

One of my pet peeves is noise: I really don't like it when someone makes a lot of noise especially when I am working or when I am sleeping. I get irritated, annoyed, and frustrated, eventually making me cranky and unapproachable.

Instead of buying those earplugs to "mask" the noise from surrounding areas, I have found a product that can actually make 'everything' cease to exist.
