Printing has always been a serious business for HP. It is no monkey business and that is why HP’s Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) is relentless in promoting the use of original consumables with HP printers to consumers and business entities. But in a society like ours, in which falsehood has been a mordant part of reality, how does HP IPG handle the ordeal? HP makes a solid response by presenting some important figures that small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) should ponder upon.

Collaborating with QualityLogic, a world-renowned firm with more than two decades of experience in printer and MFP testing, HP conducted a region-wide research comparing the reliability and print quality of original HP 10A and 42A monochrome LaserJet toner cartridges with that of remanufactured counterparts.

Samsung, as we know, is known for good and beautiful things that start with the letter “s” – sexy, stunning and sophisticated. As a manifestation of this impression, the local arm of the Korean giant recently showcased a new array of CE innovations at the Samsung AV Roadshow 2009 which was held at the NBC Tent in Taguig City.

Though the Rockwell Tent could be a fine venue as well, Samsung’s wise decision to use the NBC Tent should give you a fair idea of how large the event was. It’s not our intention to spoil your reading, but we’re telling you – it’s a BIG SHOW!

Certainly, YouTube is one of the most fascinating wonders that the Internet has brought to its loyal netizens. Considering that it is the world’s largest video hosting website with more than 100 million visitors monthly, YouTube has become too influential that even China fears it. Political matters aside, given such a huge market, it is a lucrative prospect in essence, and JVC is grabbing the chance through the introduction of the Everio GZ-MG680.

Together with models GZ-MG630 and GZ-MG670, the onyx black GZ-MG680 is a standard definition digital camcorder under the Everio G series. Pondering that most YouTube buffs are likely easygoing teens and casual consumer types, this camcorder is primarily designed with simplicity in mind. It brandishes the familiar YouTube logo on its side as if it’s talking loud and straight to its audience.

Surely, we are not talking about the dreaded swine flu virus here since it is not airborne at all. What we’re bringing up for discussion is a new strain of mouse which we anticipate will be as contagious as the common cold. The Logitech MX Air Rechargeable Cordless Air Mouse is opening a new chapter in intuitive computing, which has been a concept rapidly spreading more than ever.

Looking at this box shot, we could see a lot of important details about the Logitech MX Air. The marketing slogan “On the Desk. In the Air.” gives us a premonition of how versatile the MX Air really is. Additionally, the product shot and the statement under it suggest that it is the ideal accessory for an HTPC setup. Also, seen here are Logitech’s familiar green color scheme, logo and Swiss badge.

Last Thursday, a revolution has successfully commenced. But unlike the destructive concept of revolution which most of us may be familiar with, this revolution doesn’t aim to destabilize but rather cement an order that was established during the advent of the HP Mini 2133 - an order where technology and style converge in perfect harmony. Orchestrated by HP Philippines Personal Systems Group (PSG), the HP Mini Revolution took center stage at M Cafe in Makati City.

Though non-violent, we couldn’t say that the commencement of HP Mini Revolution was peaceful overall. Everyone was abuzz with excitement to see the latest Mini-Note PCs from HP.

In spite of the unpredictable weather conditions, nothing had prevented us, not even the strong downpour that we encountered last Tuesday, from being present at the Philippine launch of the latest LG KS360 mobile phone which was held at Edsa Shangri-La Manila in Mandaluyong City.

Riding on the marketing battle cry “Text To The Max”, we clearly see that LG Electronics is projecting the KS360 towards a huge demographic in the country. The Korean chaebol is aware that the Philippines remains in the lead as the texting capital of the world with more or less 66 million subscribers on record. A large fraction of this bulk is the youth which is the specific target market of the KS360.

If you would try searching for the Studio 14 at the main website of Dell and ended up yielding no results, probably, it could either be because there was something wrong with your Internet browser or you were barking up the wrong tree. In our case, after a few hours of straying around the Web, we found out that the Studio 14 is available only at some portals of Dell Asia Pacific, specifically China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia and Singapore.

Initially, the Dell Studio family of notebooks was comprised only of 15- and 17-inch models. This was what we witnessed when we attended the local launch of the Studio brand last year. Hence, the addition of 14-inch models in this notebook lineup is a clear indication of the adequate reception that the Studio brand is enjoying right now in Asia, particularly in the Southeast region. This time around, our guest from Dell is the Studio 1435 notebook.

The proliferation of HDTVs in electronics stores today is telling that the digital switchover is coming and it is inescapable. In the Philippines, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will be terminating the analog television transmission on December 31, 2015. More or less, that is six years from now. Although such a timeframe is fairly long enough so many of us could prepare, at the moment, we’re already on the brink of change. In fact, as early as last year, ABS-CBN has been getting ready to bring digital TV to our homes. Other broadcasting networks are expected to go with the flow as well. Additionally, another driving force to consider is the increasing number of content in Blu-ray format which points towards the growing popularity of Blu-ray players.

In response to the approaching shift, Panasonic, as one of the world’s top HDTV manufacturers, has been conditioning the Philippine market by means of introducing offerings that are reasonably priced. Of course, we’re not talking about their 150-inch plasma TV as that is reserved for the filthy rich. While Panasonic assigns the LZ series to denote some of its budget-friendly LUMIX cameras, the company also uses the same designation to represent some of its affordable VIERA LCD TVs. A model of the VIERA LZ series is the full HD (1920 x 1080p) TX-42LZ80MR which was sent to us for a quick preview and a review.

People often associate the word “titan” with things that possess extreme qualities. The most famous example could be the RMS Titanic, which was the largest passenger steamship of her time. Other examples are the element titanium, which is admired for its tremendous tensile strength; and the insect Titanus giganteus, which is the largest beetle in the Amazon forest.

In all probability, based on the examples that were given, Huntkey appropriately chose the term “titan” to represent its latest line of high performance power supply units (PSUs). Coming with a maximum output power of either 560W or 650W, the Huntkey Titan series is designed to deliver remarkable performance to PC enthusiasts and server/workstation users. For our perusal, our friends from Kensonic Inc. sent us the 650W model.

Over the past several months since Intel launched their Core i7 chip, we have been seeing different flavors of X58 motherboards. As manufacturers put stress on the full capabilities of the Core i7 as well as the X58 chipset, it is easy to understand the reason they came up with motherboards that are based on the full ATX form factor.
True, many are yearning to upgrade their rigs and switch to the new processor, however, not all are willing to dish out extra money for a full ATX motherboard, considering that other essential components for such a PC upgrade, like triple channel DDR3 RAMs and a Core i7 chip, are still at their premium price points. In addition, others are likely to stick with their micro-ATX casings and not coerce themselves in buying a larger casing just to house a full ATX motherboard. Comprehending those power users who want to experience the immensity of the Core i7 and the X58 chipset at a lower cost, ASUS expanded its elite ROG (Republic Of Gamers) motherboard family and added the new GENE lineup whose first offspring is the Rampage II GENE.

Historians usually use the phrase “Dark Ages” to refer to a certain period of slowdown in the fields of culture and the arts. Applying such a perspective to describe today’s global economy, we could say that we’re in the “Dark Ages” as well. You don’t have to be a graduate of Economics just to comprehend the situation. Pick up a newspaper or hit the Web and you would find yourself stumbling over the word “recession” again and again.

So how does HP perceive this subject matter? While most companies today are unwilling to spend, the world’s largest I.T. company is implementing a different strategy in mind. In spite of the uncertain economic atmosphere, HP continues to capitalize on smart I.T. investments, and this is actually one of the important philosophies that the company is trying to impart to the businesses in the Southeast Asian region in order to survive the recession. For this reason, HP’s Image and Printing Group (IPG) staged the region-wide “When Everything Counts” campaign.
