Commentary: ezJam: Playing On Both Sides of the Line

Peripheralistic Paralysis Syndrome, or PPS, is probably something that you've never heard of before. A pretty sure thing, since I just made that up. Still, it's an appropriate description for gadget-centric dudes n dudettes who can't get enough of plugging in more and more gadgets into their PC, consoles, home theatre systems and others.

In this post's case, we look into consoles, specifically the ever-popular Nintendo Wii. with literally hundreds of add-ons already on the market for this super - interactive console, one more can't hurt too much right? Especially if this device is one thatcombines multiple devices into one "combo" product.

The ezJam Combo Guitar is made specifically for the gamer who has everything, or at least who has too many peripherals in their room to fit in anything more, much less everything. Specifically, this combo guitar is compatible with both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour - two antagonistic products that can't seem to get along when it comes to intercompatibility and making their customer's choices less confusing.

The ezJam Combo Guitar combines a port for plugging in your Wiimote and a wireless transmitter for compatibility with Rock band. Now instead of having 2 cartoonish, plasticky guitars in your room, you'll only have one cartoonish, plasticky guitar, but with twice as many buttons. So, if you're like a total rocker (in-game at least) and dig both RB2 and GH:WT, then you'll be glad to know that you'll only need to carry one axe with you - as long as you don't mind baby blue as your color theme. No news of a inter-compatible drum set yet. Vocalists still have the best (compatibility-wise) position in a band - sing along until your band mates in RB2 can't stand you anymore, then sing for the other band on GH:WT.

Thanks to Engadget for the pics!
