Boys and their toys – what could be more…. lucrative? The boys at Detroit and in car makers in particular seems to know this by instinct, and the products coming out of their design labs are slowly becoming more “fanboy-centric” than ever.
Depending on your age, this could be futuristic or game-centric.
Don’t get me wrong though, I like cutting edge, nice looking designs on cars as much as the next guy. In fact, if not for the fact that I don’t actually play Halo (sacrilege! Unacceptable! And you call yourself a gamer??) – due to the fact that FPS games get me dizzy – I would have lusted after the new Hummer HX concept along with thousands of other car enthusiasts / Halo players out there.
Which is exactly the point – even for a person who hasn’t been able to ride one virtually or even regularly see one in pictures, the Hummer HX – which has been compared to the Warthog ground attack car in the Halo game universe – looks extremely funky (I mean that in a good way) and looks good as a next-gen, futuristic hummer.

The concept on display.
So whether its comparable to Halo’s Warthog vehicle or not, and whether it was influenced by “modern-day ATVs” – according to the designers or whether the vehicle is actually an offshoot of the designer’s Halo – playing weekends (they admitted to be all Halo players, after all), the Hummer HX concept is set to conquer many automotive enthusiast’s hearts – and make money for the manufacturer at the same time – whether either of them plays Halo or not. Now excuse me while I dig around my sofa for some spare change to put aside for when the HX comes out.
And now the real thing!
