Although the streets of Manila are usually chock-full of cars everyday at rush hour(s), it is probably safe to say that based on population and living density of our cities, we are one of the most frugal commuters in the world, especially gas-wise.
Where's the Mr Fusion?
Not by choice – as most people prefer to ride ubiquitous public transportation to avoid all adding to the traffic, or because they don’t own a car. Nonetheless, a lot of environment-conscious Filipinos choose to ride public transportation, even with black exhaust and poorly maintained engines.
For those who want to make the ultimate statement though, there’s the option to buy into the latest hydrogen – powered example to it the market: the PEM Fuel Cell “Pearl” Hydrogen Powered Bicycle. It has two tanks of hydrogen gas that provides up to 100 km of range at 25 kph before recharge is required, and can be folded up into a portable size when not in use.

Hope other buyers have better fashion sense.
If you’re travelling farther than a hundred kilometers, just ride the bus, and you’ll save more in the long run, as this bicycle retails for around P160,000.00, or around half of a small, cheap car. Besides, recharging this bicycle probably consumes more energy from the power station than a simple motorcycle – when compared distance and speed-wise. Just goes to show that making a statement and making a commitment can be two very different things, and that the newest technologies aren’t always the best. Still, it’s a nice green color, and doesn’t cover you in soot. Just don’t expect the frugal Filipino to buy into this sort of thing.

Ride a bike on our roads? With our idiot uneducated drivers (particularly public utility drivers)? I used to ride a mountain bike on our streets and let me tell you it really scared the bejesus out of me.
Besides, that bike looks like a girly bike. and wheels that small would just fall into our typical potholes and never emerge again.
Nah, I think I'll just stick to driving my car around.
Unless of course that battery powered, electric motored big bike I saw is available here, then I'd consider an alternative power vehicle. (The bike is a 2 wheel equivalent of the Tesla electric car I guess)
