Think 3D All The Way

Admir | 09 November, 2006 00:22

Take a look at the mask above. Is it 3D rendered, or is it real? What do you think? Take a wild guess.

You wouldn't know unless you've seen where this mask came from before hand. The art of 3D has always remained in the realm of virtual reality - at least for most of us mere peons. To bring such concepts to the real world, it'll cost more than an arm and a leg.

The ZPrinter 310 Plus

If you ever manage to get a chance to work with one of these 3D printers - the ZPrinter 310 Plus - from Z Corp. (we believe it's available in the Philippines) then lucky you - as a designer, you're only limited by your imagination (and the size of the "print outs" the ZPrinter can make). What can we say, this is the industrial designer's dream machine.

The ZScanner 700 from Z Corp.

What if you've got a great idea already in the physical word and you want to transfer it to your favorite CAD program? Not a problem with the ZScanner 700. Yes, what you see in CSI is very similar to this interesting device. Just shoot the gun, scan it slowly as if you're using a handheld page scanner and voila~ Data is transformed to 3D coordinates to form the model.
