Manila, Philippines – Airborne Access, the first and largest Wi-Fi hotspot operator in the country, together with various vendor-partners in the IT and telecoms industry, gathered together on the first day of February to stage the event dubbed “Wi-Fi Nation.”

Held at the Central Plaza of Eastwood City, the first and only hotspot city with mall-wide Wi-Fi coverage powered by Airborne Access, the event, hosted by Jerome or Wave 89.1 and Janice of Jam 88.3, officially launched Eastwood City as a hotspot city and showcased the latest Wi-Fi devices, services and innovations that will soon define a user’s mobile broadband experience.

The event also introduced the SMS service of Airborne Access, also called Wi-Fi Nation Club. Users who register to Wi-Fi Nation via a special keyword sent to 2968, they will receive via SMS a one hour Wi-Fi access code for FREE! Being a member of Wi-Fi Nation also qualifies them to join special promos, raffles, and events staged by Airborne Access.

During the Eastwood event, visitors got to view demos of Nokia’s Eseries mobile phones for the enterprise; the newest notebook models from ASUS; the latest ultraportables from NEO; wireless networking equipment from NetGear; Intel-powered Apple MacBooks from Ynzal Mktg.; the fabulous Bravia Home Theater systems from Sony; and stylish laptop carrying cases from LapDance Tech Gear.

New services were also announced that night, namely Eastern Telecom’s launch of its Wi-Fi card called “GoZone,” and the new subscription bundles from PLDT myDSL. Starbucks Coffee provided unlimited cups of fresh brewed coffee to keep people buzzing amid scores of the most exciting wireless gadgets available.
