LordM | 05 September, 2006 15:49

Well, I do not really have the skills in creating masterpieces using Adobe Photoshop. But, wouldn't it be nice to get some tips from the pros? I accidentaly stumbled upon a website called photoshoptips.net, and this website provides tips on how to maximize the use of Photoshop.

Here is a picture of an image they rendered...

This can be found on their tutorial on how to utilize layer masks and can be found on this link.

What You See Is Not What You Really Get

LordM | 04 September, 2006 12:02

Photos are usually taken to capture those "precious" moments. But what if the photos you see are merely fragments of ones imagination?

In an article entitled: Pictures that lie, Cnet news posted some photos that were altered to make it look better or cause more impact.

An example is a photo of Katie Couric. She was "slimmed down" in this picture and can be seen here...

So much for reality.

The whole article can be found on the Cnet news section and can be found on this link.

Quake 3 - Raytraced!

Admir | 03 September, 2006 19:03

This has been in development for some time now, but we feel it is an important stage for the virtual reality realm. Should it ever reach a time where we can have a real-time raytrace rendering do 30FPS at 640 x 480 in a game (with all glorious reflections, caustics among the numerous modern ray-tracer capabilities) we will have reached yet another important milestone in 3D graphics. Meanwhile, enjoy a demonstration of Quake 3: Ray-traced. How many computers did it take to run this in real time? Well, a couple of years back, they took 20 1800MHz AthlonXPs and placed them in a cluster. Any hardware developments of a RPU (Ray Processing Unit)? Of course! See a prototype here! If you're interested in seeing what this real-time raytracing is about, you can download a working game-like demo coded by Nicholas Chapman.
