Singapore, 10 March 2007 – Focused on users who want to make the most of their budget, Canon has this week announced the availability of five new laser printers, designed to offer fast, scalable, full colour network printing solutions at affordable prices to small and medium businesses (SMBs) and small office/home office (SOHO) users.

In the small and agile work environment, Canon’s new laser printers offer cost-effective and reliable solutions to document printing needs. Consumers can derive more value from the offering of an exceptional everyday printer with the resourcefulness of a multi-function device that copies, faxes and scans.

Product highlights
The new collection includes three full-colour network laser printers (Laser Shot LBP 5300, LBP5360 and LBP 5960) and two laser all-in-one printers (imageCLASS MF4122 and imageCLASS 4150) with a built-in auto double-sided printing system.

Leveraging on Canon’s copier technology, the LBP5360, LBP5960 are built with Canon’s proprietary UFR II (Ultra Fast Rendering II) technology (UFR II Lite for the MF4122 and MF4150), which effectively allocates the CPU’s RAM to share the workload with the printer before sending it to print. Businesses now need not have to spend additional money on RAM memory upgrades when printing high-resolution graphics or complex print jobs.

The Laser Shot LBP5300 comes equipped with Canon’s Canon Advanced Printing Technology (CAPT) which works together with a unique data compression technology, Hi-Smart Compression Architecture (Hi-ScoA) to harness the processing power of the host computer to speed up text document and photo image processing. With CAPT, businesses will also have no need to purchase additional RAM memory upgrades that add to the total cost of ownership.

The automatic duplex printing feature not only allows users to create professional double sided reports with a single click of a button, but also help save paper and cost, thereby being an economical choice for businesses users.

Three new laser printers
The three new laser printers are equipped with Canon’s on-demand fixing technology to eliminate warm-up time, ensuring immediate response from the printer when users send their print. At the same time, they are specially tailored to be versatile network printers, which can be integrated seamlessly with existing IT infrastructure. They can be shared via an Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX network or can be used as dedicated printers on their own.

All printers have an in-built Remote UI software that allows users to check their printer status, delete jobs and specify settings via their online web browser from remote locations.

LBP 5300 / LBP 5360: These models are capable of printing 21 pages per minute (A4 size, colour and monochrome) in stunning 9600x600dpi equivalent resolution. They are also equipped with a large paper handling capacity and are able to handle up to 850-sheets with an optional 500-sheet cassette tray.

LBP 5960: This printer is designed to deliver an amazing speed of 30 pages per minute (A4 size; colour and monochrome) and 16 pages per minute (A3 size; colour and monochrome) in a stunning 9600x600 dpi equivalent resolution. At the same time, the printer is able of reaching a massive 2000-sheet paper input capacity with the optional 550-sheet cassette tray, which is stackable up to three trays.

Two new laser all-in-one printers
The two new Canon imageCLASS monochrome laser all-in-ones make the most out of limited space and give customers value for money. Both are energy-saving machines that consume just 3W of power in energy- saving mode. Its built-in double-sided printing capability inevitably adds more convenience and savings to users who value long-term savings in their business operations. They are also lead-free and devoid of other hazardous chemical substances that threaten the environment.

Capable of quick and economical copying, documents are copied at a high 600x600 dpi resolution. Combining its 2-on-1 feature with its double-sided printing option, one can enjoy savings of up to ¼ of total paper consumption. The convenient zooming function also allows users to enlarge or reduce images from 50% to 200% at both preset or 1% incremental value.

Users can get fast and easy access to their favourite copy output with a one-touch copy button.

Users can also edit and enhance their scanned photos and documents with the dust and scratch detection feature and can save the final input as PDF, JPEG, TIFF or BMP files. Coupled with the bundled Presto! ® Pagemanager 7.15 and Scansoft ® Omnipage SE4.0 software, users are offered versatile scanning and support OCR (Optical Character Recognition) function for text editing on image files.

Both printers also feature a 2-line LCD for comfortable viewing and a spacious paper output area to minimize paper fall-out. There is also a “toner gauge” button and a “system monitor” button for reviewing the toner capacity and monitoring jobs done respectively. Both models also utilize USB 2.0 hi-speed connectivity for speedy transfers which are compatible with PCs, Macs and Linux operating systems.

Pricing and availability
The MF 4150 and MF 4122 are priced at S$699 and S$549 respectively, and are available at all Canon authorized dealers.

The LBP 5300, LBP 5360 and LBP 5960 are priced at S$2,249, S$2,499 and S$6,399 respectively and are also available at all Canon authorized dealers.
