Singapore, 16 December 2005 - NEC Solutions Asia Pacific today announced the official launch of the world's thinnest clamshell mobile phone with mega-pixel camera in Singapore. Effortlessly blending fashion with technology, the NEC N412i i-mode mobile phone is set to be a fashionable gadget in town.

From tomorrow, 17 December 2005, N412i will be available exclusively at all StarHub Shops and selected Exclusive Partners' outlets islandwide.

NEC's proprietary, cutting-edge technology has heralded the creation of a modern, smart, compact design boasting ultra-slim measurements of 47.9mm (width), 101.5mm (height), 11.9mm (depth; when folded) and weight of only 96 grams.

A progressive leap in style and sophistication, the N412i's svelte body embraces an advanced technology that takes convenience and communication to a new level. Supporting mobile internet (via i-mode) and GSM/GPRS, the N412i is equipped with Bluetooth and SyncML so users can communicate quickly and freely.

The MP3 player, two minute movie shooting capability and action-packed Java games will get users' hearts racing, while i-mode access will ensure users are on top of their i-mode email, banking, entertainment, games, news, shopping, sports, information and directory, to travel sites.

"A slick and stylish mobile phone packed with more features than you can imagine, including mega-pixel camera, Bluetooth, MP3 player, Java games and more, the N412i is set to create a major fashion statement amongst Singapore's mobile users, making its owners proud and the envy of the town," Mr. Chan Kin Hung, Senior Vice President, Mobile Services, StarHub, said. "N412i is the thinnest phone in the world equipped with powerful i-mode features. With a click of the 'i' button, our customers will be able to gain instant access to more than 100 internet sites to read The latest news, play Java games, book movie tickets, check traffic conditions, buy wine and flowers, and much more! This mobile phone is definitely a must-have for the hip and trendy individuals."

Mr. David Ng, Senior Vice President, Business Services Group, NEC Solutions Asia Pacific, commented, "Consumers are growing hand-in-hand with the technology these days. They become highly sophisticated as they go for mobiles that not only have great features and technology but are also accessories that they can carry around."

Closely keeping track of the consumer trend, the launch of the N412i has addressed this market demand. Mr. Ng said, "NEC recognises that style and content are key to success in the ultra-competitive mobile market. The N412i represents the start of exciting things to come in design and content innovation from NEC mobiles."

The N412i also boasts tri-band for frequent travellers, a 65k colour TFT (Thin Film Transistor) crystal display, 1.3 mega-pixel digital camera, MP3 Player, Bluetooth, PictBridge connectivity for direct printing of photos and up to 64 polyphonic ringtones.

The N412i's exterior sub-display displays time and date and caller ID, while its half mirror case ensures that users look great while checking their incoming calls.

Packed full of technological wizadry – like a changeable interface and menu structure that allows for one touch access to favourite features – the N412i is the thinnest, most feature-packed mobile phone.

Singapore will be one of the first countries to launch the N412i, taking NEC Solutions Asia Pacific to the forefront of mobile phone innovation.

* As of September, 2005, the NEC N412i phone is believed to be the world's thinnest camera-equipped, clamshell mobile phone according to the research carried out by NEC Corporation.
