Shuttle Creates, Others Follow

Shuttle creates while others follow - that's the theme surrounding Shuttle's booth. Shuttle has always been at the forefront of technology when it comes to building small form factor PCs for the consumer and gaming market. They will continue to strengthen this core business of theirs which has transformed their company from one that manufactures motherboards to one that has built a name for itself in the barebone market. They still have motherboards, though they are not part of their main focus.

At Shuttle's show room located at the New York New York building, we caught a couple of their highly attractive XPC designs. Let's look at some of their upcoming offerings below.

The new SK83L is the latest design meant for the Athlon 64 processor. Utilizing VIA's upcoming K8M800 chipset, it offers users a Socket-754 platform with integrated Unichrome graphics. It has support for DDR400 memory (up to 2GB) and it will also come with 1394, USB 2.0 and SATA ports. According to Shuttle, the SATA interface can be configured for RAID operation too.

Besides the SK83L, there's the ST62K which is based on the latest ATI RADEON 9100 IGP. It supports an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 800MHz FSB and it has dual-channel DDR400 spport too. Obviously, the highlight of this chipset is at its ability to deliver stunning integrated 3D graphics with its built-in RADEON 9100 graphics core. The ST62K will also come with FireWire and USB 2.0 support, as well as a TV output jack.

Their upcoming flagship XPC model will be the SN85G4 which features an NVIDIA nForce3 150 chipset. The SN85G4 comes with support for Socket-754 Athlon 64 processors along with SATA RAID, USB 2.0, FireWire 400, Ethernet LAN, S/PDIF digital I/O and a 6-in-1 Flash memory card reader. The SN85G4 is one of the hottest (I don't mean it literally) and most talked about product at Computex.

The new Shuttle SN85G4 supporting the new Athlon 64 processor is the latest addition to the XPC family.

Using the same G4 chassis, Shuttle will offer another XPC model based on the ATI RADEON 9100 IGP chipset. The ST61G4 will be slightly different from the ST62K in terms of size and integrated features.

The Shuttle ST61G4 is based on ATI's latest RADEON 9100 IGP for the Pentium 4 platform.
