Gaming On The Go

The LAN gaming scene really exploded into gigantic proportions about three years ago and major tournaments both local and worldwide have only been getting bigger and better ever since. With a plethora of first-class games, affordable yet powerful computer hardware and the high penetration of network interface cards and network related hardware, it was inevitable that the LAN gaming scene was only going to get better.

There was however a drawback to LAN gaming in the gamer’s point of view and that was to either lug their powerful gaming rigs to the centralized venue (it may even be another friend’s home) or settle for computer systems that are already installed in the LAN centers. Certainly it is more convenient to attend a LAN game session hands-free, but some of the systems provided by these gaming centers may not be up to specifications to deliver top-notch image quality and that definitely put a dent on gaming experience. And we haven’t even started mentioning the kind of speakers and input devices available, but we guess you get the point now.

For those hardcore LAN gamers undeterred by the troubles of lugging their systems, there are usually two distinct groups. The first group is usually not bothered by weight or size, so they actually bring their ultimate gaming rig to show off, play games and indulge in other pleasures that their full-fledged system offers. The other group usually has a separate micro ATX form factor system with only the bare essentials pertaining to maximize game performance. The problem is that full sized systems are too big / bulky (and heavy if it is made of steel), while the micro ATX form factor really limits the variety of components as well as the system capabilities.

To get around this predicament, Antec has come up with a new lightweight case that is of the mini tower form factor, yet it will accept standard ATX motherboards and the capacity to take drives and peripherals normally found on full-fledged systems. What we've just briefly described above is the latest Antec LANBOY which is one of their latest range of specialty casings.
