Introduction

Intel's fastest and greatest Canterwood chipset (or better known as the 875P) has become one of the less popular commodity, simply because its performance could easily be replicated by its cheaper sibling, the Intel 865PE. Although a lot of motherboard vendors could introduce a couple of cheats at the motherboard level to trick the 865PE to behave like the 875P, most of the time, these cheats do not yield exact PAT-like performance. In addition, not all 865PE boards have that kind of cheats in place as well, so let's not be taken in by any of their marketing claims.

So, if you're looking for that ultimate board with the best in performance and speed, the 875P is truly the one you should be looking for. The PAT (Performance Acceleration Technology) feature built into the chipset helps reduce memory latencies which subsequently helps boost the speed of the system by a significant margin. Needless to say that there's a high price to pay for such a product but if it's within your budget, we don't see why you shouldn't invest in one.

The ABIT IC7-G is ABIT's answer to users who want the best combination of ABIT's well-known overclocking features and Intel's Canterwood performance. You can expect any ABIT motherboards to feature good performance tweaks in the BIOS, so there's really not a need to really stress that fact again.

The ABIT IC7-G is packed neatly in a box and it has got all its manuals and accessories placed inside boxes. This makes packing and unpacking easy and we like the effort ABIT put into making this process simple. (Maybe it's just us because we have to repack every motherboard back into the box after the review).

In the box, you'll find :-

  • The ABIT IC7-G motherboard
  • 1x rounded floppy drive cable
  • 1x rounded Ultra ATA-133 cable
  • 2x Serial ATA cables
  • 2-port USB 2.0 + 2-port 1394 bracket
  • 2x Serial ATA power cables
  • ABIT Serillel converter with power cable
