Intel Goes Hardcore
Intel motherboards are always known to come with some of the least on-board features and it's no surprise that users, at least for most DIY folks we know, always associate Intel Desktop Boards as featureless, unoptimized and plain boring. For a long time, Intel has been in the business of manfacturing motherboards for their OEM and DIY users and it has always been based on very conservative specifications. Not to mention, it's always in that usual green PCB that we've all so grown familiar with.
However, that boring image is not going to remain any longer as Intel is out to make their motherboards ever more exciting with features that could even rival some of their chipset customers. With better features and Intel's branding, it does make a lot of sense for Intel to penetrate the retail shelves with products that even the hardcore users could consider as an alternative to using third party boards.
The new Intel D845PEBT2 Desktop Board is Intel's latest motherboard based on the Intel 845PE chipset. With a silky black printed circuit board, the D845PEBT2 is set to capture the hearts of even the most narcissistic user out there. Well, looks are important, but what's even more surprising are the features that you'll find integrated in the board. Let's explore this further in the next few pages. However, before we do that, let's look at the specifications of the board in the table below.
