Introduction

Not many people outside of Taiwan would have heard of CIS Technology. But they have been responsible for manufacturing a variety of computer and communication parts and products for the OEM market. With the advent of major vendors in Taiwan jumping into the CD-RW business (ASUSTeK and MSI are just some examples), CIS is also trying to follow the trend of delivering CD-RWs to OEMs and the DIY markets. Naming their CD-RW range "Arrgo", CIS' latest offering is based on the 52x24x52x terminology.

Like any other CD-RW in the market now, the Arrgo 52x24x52x features their own buffer-underrun protection format called Super Link as well as a 2MB buffer. Our evaluation package came with a 52x CD-R as well as a 24x CD-RW, but we can't confirm at this point of writing if CIS will bundle media with the retail version. And unlike CD-RWs from mainstream vendors, CIS have opt to bundle Veritas' Record Now DX instead of the more commonly-used Nero Burning ROM.
