Come On In and Read About the ComeMon

Thin profile LCD monitors are becoming more and more common as the price drops and becoming affordable to the pro-sumer. Starting from 15-inch or higher, they are spoilt for choice in terms of price and screen size. However, because of the difficulty and cost of manufacturing a defect-free LCD, it still remains out of reach for the budget conscious consumer. The reason why this is so, is because, in any active matrix display, there are millions of transistors in the LCD. For a 17-inch LCD monitor, for example, there are about 3,932,160 transistors. If too many of the transistors fail during production, the whole monitor will have to be rejected as a result of "dead pixels".

Dead pixels are transistors that have failed to function during normal operating conditions. Dead pixels will appear as a tiny black or white dot regardless of the graphics that is being displayed. Most pro-sumers will not tolerate this because the price for an LCD is still relatively high, and the image degradation is significant when there are say, as little as 6 dead pixels in the LCD monitor. As such, the price of LCD monitor is still relatively high as consumers actually pay for quality panels. However, for those who are willing to pay a premium for an LCD monitor, you will be rewarded with a monitor that is lightweight, occupies a smaller footprint, runs much cooler and emit less radiation.

As such, we now come to the introduction of ComeMon’s CPD-174. ComeMon is a company that out-sources its research and development of its LCD to third parties but maintains a strict level of testing and quality controls to its own brand of monitors. As you read on, you will realize that they have done a very good job in those aspects.
