Nuts About Apple... Again!

Last month's debut of the iPod nano, marked another milestone for Apple as its slimmest audio player ever (and perhaps even in the industry). Taking advantage of solid state flash memory, the iPod nano is available in capacities of up to 4GB currently and replaces its successful iPod mini forerunner. On the 12th of October, Apple announced yet another 'replacement' in its iPod series and today, we get a chance to see the fifth generation (5G) iPod that is not only slimmer than the predecessors, but it also sports new features such as video playback capabilities and many more. The iPod 5G bears all the same features as the iPod nano such as Screen Lock, World Clock and others but it has expanded those features by utilizing a larger 2.5-inch display. The new iPod is capable of displaying up to four world clocks and two lap stopwatch timings on the same screen whereas the iPod nano can display only half that quantity. During the launch event, we had the pleasure of trialing this new iPod 5G, and so we prepared this pictorial overview to share what you can expect from it.

Here it is! The completely updated iPod family featuring the iPod shuffle, iPod nano and the renewed iPod respectively from left to right. Note that the iPod nano and the iPod are available in black variants too.

The iPod 5G is not just slimmer than the 4G version as Apple has shrink the size of the ClickWheel too. And because the iPod 5G comes with a larger 2.5-inch display, it's able to show 30 photo thumbnails, much more than the predecessor.

Just like the iPod nano, certain older accessories will not work with the iPod 5G as it does not come with the remote connector.

The surface of the new fifth generation iPod is similar to that of the iPod nano. To minimize the scratches on the surface of the screen, Apple has kindly bundled a soft case that prevents the iPod from being scratched.
