Gigabyte's Debut Casing

Here's a personal observation: Taiwanese hardware manufacturers seem to have one thing in common. They dabble in almost every conceivable product in the hardware market, from components like motherboards to consumer electronics like notebooks and audio players. From ASUS to AOpen, these vendors may have certain strengths in a few segments but they will invariably have their fingers in every pie. Gigabyte belongs to this group, with a diverse range of products; they even have mobile phones, something that may seem incongruous with its core business. Hence, it may surprise some of you that despite having designed and built numerous coolers, countless keyboards and other related peripherals, Gigabyte has never had a casing in its product lineup; until now that is.

The first Gigabyte casing, the 3D Aurora is out and readily available in retail stores now. We have read speculations that Gigabyte has launched this casing, specifically to complement its new 3D Galaxy water-cooling unit. Unfortunately, we are unable to ascertain this rumor but regardless of the motivation for this casing, we always embrace new products as that only means greater choice, especially if they introduce innovations that make us happy. While Gigabyte has achieved a good reputation for its motherboard and graphics products, it is obviously a newcomer to the casing scene. So how does the Gigabyte upstart fare against the competition? We'll give you the full picture after these specifications.

Standing tall, we have the first casing from Gigabyte, the 3D Aurora.
