Canon Product Launch

It's never too early to roll out new products and that's exactly what Canon did on a lazy afternoon on the 20th September 2005. Eyeing to get a lion's share of the year-end buying spree, members of the press were all delightfully treated to Canon's latest and probably the most comprehensive array of digital imaging and printing products ever rolled out in one seating to date. No less than 15 new models were showcased, including two digital SLRs, two new lenses, seven mainstream digital cameras, two digital camcorders and two ultra portable compact photo printers.

Unveiling 15 products in one swoop two months before the year-end festivities only underlines Canon's goal in catering to a broad range of consumers interested in products ranging from digital cameras and digital video camcorders to digital compact photo printers. "Canon continues to see unprecedented levels of interest in digital photography causing the industry to rethink on how to help consumers save, organize and share their growing collection of digital images and videos," says Mr. Kazuto Ogawa, President and CEO of Canon Singapore Pte Ltd. "Today's launch is yet another testament to Canon's strong commitment to research and development and to continually give customers more choice by tirelessly paying attention to their attitudes, emotions and needs."

Digital imaging, however, is not the only market that is benefiting from a healthy and steady growth in sales. Aided by a readily available and abundant pool of indispensable products with imaging capabilities such as mobile phones, PDAs and Pocket PCs, Canon is finding more consumers, more specifically digital camera owners investing money into modern consumer printers that are technologically advanced and cost effective enough to help them achieve near photo lab quality printouts. Backed by this emerging trend, the 'Print It Yourself' group of users is, needless to say, growing at a very steady rate for which Canon's timely response is to further drive down home printing cost through innovations of better inks and papers. The two newly launched Canon SELPHY (Self Photography) printers, the CP510 and CP710 are designed exactly for the home printing crowd, promising to deliver postcard-sized printout in just 58 seconds and lasting pictures that would rival those printed in professional photo labs.

Naturally, hands-on is the fastest and most effective way to familiarize with the "newcomers" from Canon.
