The ASUS V6500V - Cool to the Touch

Amidst the hot news of its brand name separation from its OEM notebook business, ASUS, the number one notebook brand in Taiwan for 2004 has kindly furnished us with a new V6500V 15-inch notebook targeted at the mainstream masses. Spawned after the ceremonial date of 19th Jan 2005 (Intel's launch of its 'Sonoma'), the unit's key specifications include a Pentium M processor 760 (2.0GHz) running on an Intel 915PM Express platform.

Taking a spot in the 'V' series which according to ASUS is the alphabet christened to their line of slim and lightweight 15-inch notebooks, the V6500V sports a build quality that would put most other mainstream 15-inch notebooks to shame. Protecting the LCD panel on the exterior is a combination of strong materials in the form of magnesium alloy and polycarbonate plastic. On the interior, we are greeted to an equally well-crafted set fabricated out of a single sheet of aluminum that serves as the frame for the keyboard and doubles up as a wrist rest. Due to these metallic elements and the use of polycarbonate plastic, the notebook feels and handles solidly without any audible signs of chassis strain at all. Thanks to the notebook's build and choice of materials used, it should allow the notebook to take a fair bit of punishment while maintaining the integrity of the sensitive components within. As per ASUS practice, the preferred and applied color tone for the V6500V is a classy smooth black.
