CeBIT Hannover is the world's largest ICT event, spanning up to seven days long, it began in the middle of this week. The event occupies the entire Hannover fairground, covering up to 27 spacious halls with exhibits catering to products and services for business processes, banking & finance, communications and digital equipment & systems. Amidst the cold harsh winter, Hardware Zone made its way to the event again this year to bring you the latest in fashion, the coolest in hardware and a peek into the future of technology. Without going further into other boring details, let's get on with our detailed online coverage of the show.

MSI's Upcoming Notebooks

Besides motherboards and graphics cards, MSI is aggressively moving into the mobile computing space with the introduction of its latest range of notebooks for the business user all the way up to the performance gamer. As MSI design and manufactures the notebooks themselves, they are confident of delivering the best performing products with its own unique brand of features and style. That's probably what they are trying to convey with their latest tagline, “My Style Inside” which incidentally suits the abbreviation for their brand, MSI.

The latest MSI MEGABOOK based on Intel's latest Sonoma platform features an Intel 915GME chipset and a large 15-inch XGA screen. This 2.7kg workhorse for the performance-oriented user will come with the latest Intel Pentium M 725 or 735 processor. It is also targeted at the multimedia enthusiast as it comes with a 4-in-1 card reader (SD/MMC/MS/SM) and a FireWire 400 port.

The MEGABOOK M525 is a close relative of the M520 as it comes with very similar specifications. It is based on the Intel 915PM chipset, which uses a discrete graphics solution based on NVIDIA's GeForce Go 6600 graphics with up to 128MB video memory buffer. When availability permits, MSI indicated that it could also use NVIDIA's mobile graphics solution with up to 256MB memory.

The MEGABOOK M635 is based on the ATI RS480M chipset, which is a mobile chipset for the Mobile Athlon 64 processor. This 15.4-inch WXGA (1280x800) notebook will feature a Mobility RADEON X700 VPU. As it's a widescreen notebook targeted at users who want to take advantage of watching movies on their notebook, the M635 comes with a remote control and an instant-on operating system for those who want to watch DVDs or listen to MP3s without going into Windows.

If you don't like the high power consumption characteristics of the Mobile Athlon 64 processor, then the M645 will give you a longer lasting mobile enjoyment. Based on the Intel 915PM chipset and loaded with an NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 graphics, the M645 also comes with a remote control and an instant-on OS partition.
