Introduction - The Hybrid

As Intel launched their LGA775 platform with the Alderwood and Grantsdale chipsets, they also embarked to revamp the Pentium 4 system with the latest technology such as DDR2 and PCI Express. This left many users who wanted to upgrade facing a dilemma of being unable to retain their old components. The Intel 915P Express chipset came as a respite since it is capable of supporting both DDR and DDR2, which we have seen in various configurations thus far in our shootout. However lacking an AGP bus, that still leaves problems for those loathing to part with their older, but perfectly capable graphics cards. In swoops, ECS with their innovative 915P-A motherboard aims to correct these upgrade woes.
