For a while now, the number of pixels supported by a camera-phone has been stagnant at VGA resolution. With our desire and hunger for evermore capable integrated digital cameras in mobile phones, the long running VGA resolution found in today's mobile phones is starting to fade fast in its appeal. Even though the 640x480 resolution does provide a good amount of pixels required for capturing images that are decent for pictorial appreciation on small screen displays, a global shift in product strategy has engaged every mobile phone manufacturer in a common roadmap to produce mobile phones that serve as both a mobile phone and a budget digital camera. This trend has long been set in motion in Japan but it's only up till recently did we start to observe an influx of Megapixel camera phones for the GSM market - Global System for Mobile Communications is currently the dominant 2G or 2.5G standard in most countries.

Rumors and leaked pictures of Siemens' S65 had been floating around the Internet prior to its launch proper, fueling the hype and anticipation surrounding this 1.3 Megapixel candy bar phone. With us today is the actual retail version of the phone and you're cordially invited to join us as we walk through the features of the S65, Siemens' first Megapixel mobile phone.
