CommunicAsia 2004 (Part 2)

The Koreans aren't the only mobile handset manufacturers making their presence felt in this year's CommunicAsia 2004. Japanese electronics giant, Panasonic, had its exhibition booth directly beside LG, showcasing a slew of new mobile handsets that ranges from retail units to concept models. Let us walk you through Panasonic's showcase.

Panasonic’s booth was well designed and spacious.

The Tri-band A101 is one of the affordable models in Panasonic’s A1xx. These sporty and lightweight phones support polyphonic ring tones with a storage space of up to 250 contacts. School-goers should take well to these phones.

With a clean and pastel look, the clamshell form factor A500 is a delight to hold and operate. The traditional fashion of flipping these phones open via the tip of your thumb is made redundant. To get this beautifully crafted phone open requires a simple push of a button that’s located on the left flank of the hinge. Clamshell phones are all about style and opening these phones don’t get any better than the ‘X-changeable Cover’ A500.

Targeted at the young and hip female audiences, Panasonic’s Tri-band G51E is a feminine phone inside out. Key features are its diminutive size, GPRS, WAP and built-in handsfree capability. Weight is at a low and comfortable 74 grams, definitely well-suited for the ladies.

Not forgetting the men, G51M is the ‘macho’ version of the G51 lineups and it weighs just as light as the G51E too.

Not exactly a new model, this circular clamshell that looks like a lady’s powder compact has the display taking on a secondary role of a mirror. Perfect for that quick touchup for ladies to get your man!

G70 in an opened state.
