The Future of GPUs According to NVIDIA

NVIDIA kicked off the Computex week in style with an event to tell the whole world how today's digital age will change the way consumers compute and how the GPU will play a central role in enabling that experience.

Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder, president and CEO of NVIDIA delivered his afternoon keynote with details of how GPUs can benefit users in areas of gaming, digital photography, video editing and even viewing HD videos on the web. In order to reach out to the masses, NVIDIA promises to deliver its GPU into PCs not just through its discrete components (Geforce graphics) but also through its latest Ion platform. The Ion integrated graphics platform which comes built-in with the goodness of NVIDIA's GPU capabilities will now extend its support beyond Intel Atom to support other Intel processors including Celeron, Pentium and Core 2.

DirectX Compute Comes with Windows 7

DirectX Compute, a component of the graphics engine, will come shipped with Windows 7. The component accelerates all graphics related workloads natively so users with Windows 7 need not bother about drivers and other software optimization to fully take advantage of their GPUs.
