The New Universal Dock for the iPod series

To compliment the new Apple Remote (more on that later), Apple has designed a new Universal Dock that comes with IR support for the iPod series. It even works on the previous fourth generation iPod with the "Made for iPod" adapter, which is similar to the iPod nano adapter that we have covered in earlier article.

The new Universal Dock sports an S-Video and Line out connection at the rear. The IR interface that works with the new Apple Remote is located in the front flank.

The Universal Dock is designed for the iPod 5G but is backward compatible to the iPod 4G with the appropriate "Made for iPod" adapter.

The iPod nano sits slightly towards the right side of the Universal Dock
