Introduction
The Canon EOS 300D DIGITAL is also known as the Canon Digital Rebel in the United States of America and most certainly rebelled against prices set by previous DSLR cameras in the market when it was first introduced. Released in later half of year 2003, the Canon EOS 300D DIGITAL is currently priced at S$1899 (body alone) or S$1999 (kit version) and seem to be the answer for many budget-wise consumers looking for a stepping stone into the realm of digital SLR photography. Similar to the Canon EOS 10D DIGITAL, the Canon EOS 300D DIGITAL boasts a 6.3 megapixel CMOS image sensor along with Canon’s PictBridge support for direct printing on PictBridge compliant printers as well as Canon’s proven DIGIC technology.
For the uninitiated, Canon’s Digital Imaging Core or simply known as ‘DIGIC’ is a specialized and dedicated chip to process the images for their cameras holding this technology. This processor incorporates six key elements crucial to the capturing of quality images, such as CCD control, Auto Exposure/ Auto Focus/ Auto White Balance, Signal processing, JPEG compression/ expansion, memory card control and Display (color LCD, video output). As a result of a speed advantage that comes with this improvement, the battery life of the digital camera is prolonged as well.
Just to whet your appetite, other features included in the Canon EOS 300D DIGITAL are the seven selectable AF points for accurate focusing, 2.5 frames per second burst of up to four frames, ISO values ranging from 100-1600, three types of metering and focusing modes, seven Basic Zone and five Creative Zone shooting modes, up to 10x playback zoom for focusing and framing checks, as well as a Plug and Play USB interface.
