Introduction

Marketed as Canon’s contribution to bringing digital photos and videos closer to the consumer in one smooth move, the 3.2 Megapixel Canon Powershot S1 IS certainly looks interesting moonlighting as a digital video recorder. In case you didn't know, it is capable of up to an hour long of movie recording (depending on battery charge and memory capacity) at 30 frames per second along with its own dedicated movie record button.

Other than attempting to bridge the gap between digital photography and video recording, other features that might interest could be the camera's Image Stabilizer (IS) for reducing effects of camera shake, the fast and quiet Ultrasonic Motor (USM) lens, as well as the versatile ultra-zoom lens with a focal length coverage of 38mm to 380mm (35mm film equivalent), effectively translating to a 10x optical zoom.

Rather than carrying on with what the Canon Powershot S1 IS has to offer, let us move on with the detailed aspects of the camera. But before doing so, here are the Canon Powershot S1 IS’s detailed camera specifications:-
