The Specs Say All

You may remember the Acer Aspire 8930G as a very powerful machine that wasn't too expensive given its hardware specifications. We last saw this mammoth notebook in our 18.4-inch Desktop Replacement (DTR) shootout last year and loved the machine for what it could do at that price point. This time around it's back with even better hardware, improved design and the usual Acer load of bloatware.

You may groan, but these bloatware are what helps to keep the price down somewhat. After all, did you think that a notebook with sterling specs such as an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 2x 500GB HDD, Blu-ray drive and ATI Radeon HD4670 is going to come cheap with no drawbacks? Thankfully, uninstalling the bloatware is but a simple albeit time consuming affair. Once you get that out of the way, the Aspire 8935G is one smokin' machine that kicks heavy butt.

It's glossy, shiny and kicks butt. Yeap, it's the 18.4-inch Acer Aspire 8935G.

The front of the notebook plays host to just one 5-in-1 card reader.

The right side makes full use of the space with three USB 2.0 ports, a Blu-ray drive and power jack.

The left side is packed to the hilt with LAN jack, antenna jack, VGA out, DisplayPort jack, HDMI port, an eSATA-USB combo port, another USB 2.0 port, IEEE 1394, ExpressCard/54 and audio jacks. That's a lot of stuff no?
