Not Very Dual Screen

If you haven't heard yet, the Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds notebook is probably the first dual-screen notebook available in mass. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get this awesomely cool looking mobile workstation for review as it's not quite ready yet to debut in this part of Asia. This doesn't mean however that we shouldn't be looking at the single screen version of the W700, which comes across as equally capable notebook in it's own right - just that it's missing a 10-inch secondary screen, of course.

There's really not too much to differentiate the W700ds from the W700, as you'll find that the general build and design are similar. In fact, if you've taken a good look at ThinkPad machines before, you'll note that the W700 will feel right at home along with older models with its similar looking design that really brings back the old school charm. While the younger and trendier crowd will bemoan the lack of any aesthetic highlights, the W700 is really beautiful in its own right.

And honestly speaking, we doubt the young and trendy bunch will mess around with the W700. For starters, it's a mobile workstation, so expect nothing less than pure performance sex appeal with its impressive hardware specifications and sturdy build to boot. Top that off with a built in color calibration feature for the screen and even a WACOM tablet, all this only means that the W700 is all ready for a graphic designer who shuffles between work and home. More of the hardware specs and our analysis after the photo gallery:-

The chunky but still pretty majestic Lenovo ThinkPad W700.

How big is the W700? Well, here's a Wiimote as a semi-reference.

The W700's ample space upfront bears a card-reader and the audio jacks.

Three USB 2.0 ports, a modem port, WACOM stylus pen and an optical drive makes up the right side of the W700.

On the back, we find a DisplayPort, analog VGA, DVI and LAN port.

Two more USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 1394 port, a ExpressCard/34 and ExpressCard/54 slot make up the left side.
